O.M.G.

*High fivin' ek* I LOVE that song!! For that matter, I love that album. RIP Robert Palmer.

Yes, HFTW smokes as does that whole record. Akay, do you know who the other vocalists are on some of the verses on Harvest? I figured maybe JT, maybe AT? Palmer was cooler than shit.

Did you know that there was a second powerstation album? It's called Living in Fear and I have a copy if anyone's interested. I will say don't expect the magic of the first album and it was done in 1996, so there's quite a lag. John Taylor was involved in the writing of the album, but he and Andy didn't get along so Bernard Edwards stepped out from behind the producer's glass and played bass on the recording.

Wow, I'd have to go back and give it a listen. It's been a LONG time since I've listened to that cd! We cruised SO much to that tape!

I have to agree with you there. When I heard they were going to be doing a second album, I was so excited, but the magic really wasn't there and the world had moved on from their sound of the 80's that the first album had.

I'm like so behind in music - LOL

I keep hearing positive remarks about Andy Taylor.

Were there 2 John Taylor's or 2 Andy Taylor's or both out there?

I have Living In Fear, and it's cool to have for what it is. Not as good as the debut but AT still plays as loud and heavy as ever on it....Anybody have anything from when Melrose Place's Michael Desbarsses was fronting the band? I'd love to have a concert.

Yep, Palmer left and he took over. I think they only made 1 studio song (on the Commando soundtrack) with him but he handled concert duties.

Michael Desbarsses

Wasn't he the guy that played Murdoc on MacGyver?

As far as Power Station, I always took it to be JT and AT as the other vocalists on Harvest.

Neal Is God~She's Got a Way About Her, Billy Joel.
It expresses the way I feel about my wife perfectly.
Awwwwwwwww now that's just so nice, and what a great tune!

Funny you folks mentioned Midnight Blue...I haven't heard that song
in easily 5 years but Friday night when we were in the car with the boys
this one came on.I was so excited to hear it again.
I cranked it up and
the boys started moaning.I silenced them with the threat of playing some
John Mayer,hehehe

My three for Styx/DeYoung would be....
The First Time
Little Girl World
Suite Madame Blue

Any others.......
Can't Find My Way Home~House Of Lords (Just a timeless Classic)
Let It Go~Great Big Sea (because I need to learn this)
Paul McCartney and Wings~Daytime Nighttime Suffering
(This is one of my wallowing songs when Hubby is being a big Prick Dorf)

Great thread thanks!

Nice songs all. Wow daytime nightime suffering is a Paul gem, haven't heard it in a while. Old and Wise by AP is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and a superb vocal, I play after any funeral I unfortunately have to attend. It is actually very helpful.

Mine would be:

So Bad - Paul McCartney, he wrote this for his son when he was born, I kept hearing it in my mind when my little boy came into this world.

Oh My Love - John Lennon, maybe his best ever about discovering new love.

I'm Still Standing - Elton John, a good picker up from a bad breakup

When I'm with you - Sheriff, Best slow song from the 80's nuff said

Someday - Sugar Ray, the lyrics really get to me on this one, very self reflective...looking over your life

So many more out there.....

Hubby hates it when this song magically plays on my stereo
because I go nuts,I love this one it's one of my all time faves by Elton.
Another one is Ticking...that one is just hauntingly good!

The last time I saw them out on the road was 2002. That was ELO II without Jeff Lynne, but they were REALLY REALLY good. They had the original bassist and violin player and I think one of the guitarists. In 2002 Jeff had a version of ELO and put out a new album called Zoom, and was going to go out on tour. The album tanked so he cancelled the tour. It's been all quiet on both fronts since then. Pick up one of their double cd box sets, that's about all your would need. The best of their best.

did you all hear that tom petty said that Jeff Lynne will be going on tour with him this year? That will be an awesome concert

My songs are......

1 WE WERE FRIENDS BY DARE ... Probably the most beautiful song ever written and it was made more special when the most beautiful woman walked down the aisle to me with this song last October.

2 LADY BY KENNY RODGERS ... I bought this single for my mom just before she died....... she loved the song and i found it at a music fair.....she played it daily and i complained to her i was sick of hearing it..... i wish she could still annoy me and play it continuously....i love the words to it and its so special...

3 SONG FOR GUY BY ELTON JOHN... Another song that reminds me of my mom passing when i was 13....this song was in the charts and when he sings the line " Life isnt everything" it made me think how wrong he could be, ide listen to it and think it is everything as my mum had just passed but after i got over the grief i understood Eltons meaning.

4 FOREVER AUTUMN BY JUSTIN HEYWOOD FROM THE SOUNDTRACK TO JEFF WAYNE'S WAR OF THE WORLDS ...What a stunning piece of music from start to finish brilliant vocals and string arrangements......a song that took me back to my youth.

5 JULY MORNING BY URIAH HEEP... The song that got me into rock music in the first place ..... always will be a classic to me....the song is over 30 years old but its timeless.

6 FOOLS OVERTURE BY SUPERTRAMP.....One of the best constructed songs ever written, telling the story of the blitz in world war 2 and Churchill not being taken seriously when he told of Hitlers intentions...BRILLIANT.
