A lot of people are up in arms about them still calling themselves the Cars, even though they add "with Todd Rundgren". I saw Todd Rundgren last year with Joe Jackson, and think he is an interesting guy. I would like to see this show. I heard some samples Andrew posted on the front page that sounded pretty good.

I've seen Todd in concert before. He's always different, never the same. Sometimes it'll be just himself alone, sometimes with a band, opening for Hall & Oates and using them as his band....and now with the New Cars. It looks like this set up will mostly be Cars tunes performed.

From an article I saw he will be also playing some of his tunes, including, "I Saw The Light". "Bang the Drum" would be ok, but "Saw the Light"?! God, what a HORRIBLE song. That in itself would keep me away from that show

It's not much different then the Queen with Paul Rodgers thing. Can't mislead the public, you know!

You're right Angiekay, I Saw the Light was one of the few of his own he performed. I think the other was Can We Still Be Friends. I'll have to check a recent setlist. Bang...would be a good one since it's pretty well known. I was surprised he isn't playing Hello It's Me. I've always liked I Saw The Light. Wow, we're pretty opposite ends of the spectrum on that one, huh. He doesn't play that one all the time. I'm surprised he's started playing again so much recently. It was in the set on his tour with H&O.

You mean like:

Styx with Lawrence Gowan and Ricky Phillips and Todd Sucherman

or

Dennis Deyoung performing The music of Styx without Tommy Shaw, James Young or Chuck Panozzo

Yeah, heh heh, he's certainly had some different types of songs alright. I'm sure that one would clear out most fans looking for Cars hits.

Appropriately positioned in the set, it can be the bathroom break song.

Well, Def Leppard & Journey just confirmed.

This on melodic rock

JOURNEY & DEF LEPPARD TOUR NEWS FINALLY ANNOUNCED:
Plans have been underway for several months, but now it is official. Journey and Def Leppard will tour together in the US later this year, in a double-headlining bill that follows Leppard's 2005 pairing with Bryan Adams.
This from the Journey site: "We are pleased to announce that a U.S. Summer Tour featuring Def Leppard and Journey is in the works. No dates have been confirmed at this time. When the Co-Headlining Tour is finalized, we will post the dates here. The dates for Europe are still being finalized and scheduled for June. Watch for more tour information coming soon. It's going to be a Rockin' Summer!"
One date has however, been announced. That is: Thu, 7/13/06 7:00 pm, Chastain Park Amphitheatre, Atlanta, GA.

I think so, if they're playing anything but small venues and fairs, I think. Same as most of the other Dinosaur bands that haven't had a hit in20 years or so.

I personally think they need to do this to have a successful tour, for all of them overall. IMO

Every year, around April 1, somebody wants people to believe it.
