Darren,

It was a WORLD WIDE inteligence failure, not just a US failure.

Even thos countries that chose to bury their heads in the sand said that the they existed. They just didn't care.

What a compassionless world we have become....

yep SFNH, I agree with your last statement........45 million people who cannot afford health insurance, seniors who have to choose between medication and sustainence, schools cutting programs due to lack of funds......

But we have 1 trillion dollars to devote to the ouster of a basically harmless dictator in the middle east......which causes much unrest in the region.....which pushes the price of oil sky high...and results in the deaths of a few thousand americans and many more thousands of Iraqi's. and makes us look like bullies with a self serving agenda to the rest of the world.

and in the end, who reaps the benefits from all of this exactly ? oh yes ! shareholders of EXXON/Mobil, Shell Oil, Halliburton, etc........

Ponder the opportunity cost to THIS country....do you think 1 trillion dollars could have benefitted our citizens in some other way ? hmmmmm. I tend to agree with Darren, and am proud not to be counted among the 59 million........

Don't blame me because I voted for the other guy in 2004.

How can 59 million go wrong was asked, simply people voted scared on fearing another attack was on the horizon. What people forgot is that an attack happend on American soil under this selected president.

Just my opinion.

I viewed the election not so much as a choice of who would make a good leader, but who would be viewed (at the time) as the lesser of two evils. While I do not count myself amongst the 59 million, I also have to attribute this to our ever growing apathy towards our government. We have grown very complacent. We are a people of instant gratification, whose scope of the world is rapidly diminishing to only how it directly impacts us. I in no way intend to sound demeaning to anyone here, however I notice all around me, people are ignorant to what is happening in the world. But they can tell me who did what on any and all reality tv shows. Skewed priorities...at least in my humble opinion.

For the record, I never said Bush W orchestrated the attacks. He can't even play Chutes and ladders, for Christ' sake.

However, The power ring.....these people who amswer to no one...Cheney, Jeb Bush, Rice, Wolfowitz, Silverstein, Rove, etc.

They are using puppet boy to drum up patriotism, the 59 million dumbasses can wrap him in stars and stripes, and the rest of the country is clueless.

The electorate truly is stupid.

31% approval rating. Yep, it's clinton's fault.

Winners take responsibility. losers place blame. Try learning that republicans.

Good points. You could trace the steps of nearly every politician and see where they have flip flopped their position. I guess hindsight being what it is and all. But the worst economy since the great depression? Hardly. The economy is booming. Look around at all key indicators, they are going up.

With jobs being exported to India for workers who are willing to work for 1/3 the wages on 10-12hr shifts, no corporation is going to resist that. There will come a time when the only jobs in the US are jobs dealing directly with consumers. That's the economy we are headed for in the next 10yrs or so. IT, science, engineering - all are going to eventualy be off-shored. I don't care what the "economic indicators" of the day are doing...what we are looking at in the longer term is NOT GOOD.

Yeah, the terrorists were from Saudi Arabia. Probably spent time training in Afghanistan. So, we attack Iraq. Makes perfect sense. Idiots.

during the same administration suffered the worst natural disaster to ever hit our country.

And, we had the worst response to any national disaster in our nations history. Then Bush blames on the head FEMA, who we find out warned Bush, repeatedly, that the response to this was not going to be adequate. Idiot.

Now I know most of you hate this guy, after all according to some of the intelligent people on the politics forum he planned the whole 911 attack on our own people

...and some people think the moon landing was faked. Conspiracy theories of some does not excuse the stupid actions of the president.

Just don't get Ted Kennedy to drive it over.

Or, Bush...since he may be drunkn and then lie about it.

And we all know Natural Disasters are the Presdient's fault.

No, but it's his incompetent presidency which did not handle the disaster in any satisfactory way AT ALL. HE BLEW IT.

And FEMA, that has been around since oh Jimmy Carter, right

And, the power of FEMA has been reduced by the current President.

It took something of this magnitude to realize that it or nothing else in place was ready to handle a Cat 5.

It's kinda hard when FEMA is IGNORED

Because the Democrats don't know how to run an election.

I want John McCain. If he can get the nomination, which I doubt he will, I'll vote for him. But, otherwise, I'll vote Libertarian, cuz I'm tired of both parties.

Bullshit. The Bush administration wanted to go after Sadam. 911 was just the excuse to do it. The war in Iraq would have happened whether bin Laden was alive or not.

Jon McCain is a sycophantic worm who uses the veneer of being a fair minded moderate to win over poor indiscerning liberals (like you).
Bush and Co. swift boated his ass (impuning his mental sanity, his family, among other things) and look how he reacts.

Oh they do, Monker, trust me. Ever stop to think why Kerry didn't have the big guns fighting for him?

That's right. James Carville, the best fuckin Campaign Mind out there(including Karl Rove), sat it out....They wanted Kerry to lose....why?

Can you say President Clinton in 2008? I already hear it.

I agree. Sympathy for McCain should all be gone. So he stayed underground in a tiger cage in Vietnam? So what? Why should I give a shit and care, if the president of the United States doesn't give a rats ass. Like TNC said, McCain was "Swift Boated" by a cocaine heaping draft dodger, and it worked. Not to go to the curveball, Bush threw the same pitch at Max McClellend...another war vet who lost both legs..worked again. Why mix it up? A third time, Rove and Bush smeared a Vietnam vet, this time Kerry, and Bingo!, it worked yet again.

I would be so proud of George W Bush if I were a republican. hell, the guy just wins, doesn't he? And the country and the world loses.

Keep that in mind in November.

Carville and Begala got involved near the end of Kerry's capaign. They started refining Kerry's message and making it more comprehensible to the masses, but by then it was too late. Despite their persistent appeals, Kerry's people never let Carville and Begala take full control.
Gore was also a dumbass and similarly chose Donna Brazille (sp?) over the ragin cagun.

Don't forget Bob Shrum who was in charge of Kerry's campaign.
Nice guy, smart guy. Pretty effective as a liberal proponent when making the rounds on the talk show circuit.
Sadly, the man has never won a single election he has ever been involved with (and he has been a part of quite a few).

I know Shrum from his days as an northeast advisor and planner/pollster for the 92 and 96 Clinton Campaign. He bought me the biggest steak I have ever eaten up in Providence, RI. Other than that, a really dumb fucker with regards to politicking and scheming.

It's a mute point. Our Presidents can't run for more than two terms. George Washington set the standard for it. In his words (parphrased)....He was voted for by the people and two terms was enough. More than that would make you King, and they had just fought a war about that...

Well that may have been the intent, however the 2 term limit wasn't enacted until the passing of FDR...who was in the midst of his 4th term when he died.

And it's moot, not mute. Just messing with you a little.

The two term limitation was set by the 22nd Amendent in 1951 during Harry Truman's second term(he'd finished out FDR's 4th term and was then serving one of his own)

you're right Jimmy. They referred back to Washington when crafting the amendment.

Lot's of valid reasons at the time to keep FDR in office, not to mention we were in a war..

Yep, the reference to Washington was used over and over again. It started back when FDR was thinking of running for the 3rd term in 1940.
The anti-third termers had buttons printed up that said:
No man is good THREE times or I'm Against The Third Term; Washington Wouldn't, Grant COULDN'T, Roosevelt SHOULDN'T!

None.
This will be demonstrably shown when Clinton's better half gets her ass handed to her in '08.
And NO, I am not a GOP hardliner douche bag, so save it.

Care to wager?

Dude, Hillary is a helluva lit tougher, smarter and more saavy then Kerry, Edwards or Obama.

She will be your Democratic nominee for president. She will have a shitty economy to run on, an embarrassing war to run on, a terrible American reputation to run on, and the backing of James Carville, and the black vote her husband will no doubt bring her.

This won't be close.

She is your next president, get used to it.

All of which she voted for.

Best way to tell what Hillary thinks is to poll the constituants.

Just look at her role with Wal-Mart.

It's a vast right wing conspiracy trying to discredit my husband. (---eh, uhm, eh Hillary, I did it, but it wasn't sex...Bill)
