Well, that's cool. Looks like the Moondance list is growing. I think that's a two or three day festival. That and Wheatland Jam in Kansas.
I wish the Guess Who still had Burton Cummings. But he left again 2 years ago and now they're back touring again without him. I've never liked any of the non Cummings lineups. And there have been many.
I do still enjoy LRB though, even without the originals. Go figure.....

I am a fan of early Guess Who. Cannot imagine them without their "signature voice"!! :P

I really love Burton Cummings and wonder what he has been up to in the last, oh, 25 years or so!

So I don't know who's in the Current Lineup of the Guess Who. Since I guess they don't have an website.

I will say though the picture on the Moondance Jam site looks like a promo pic of the Guess Who BEFORE they reunited with Bachman and Cummings, because that's Carl Dixon with them in that pic.

Man what a classic rock week in Edmonton.. Bachman/Cummings and Dennis Deyoung in the same week!

Burton was solo from 1975(after The Guess Who broke up) till 1999 when he reunited with The Guess Who(he also had taken part in a shortlived Guess Who reunion in 1983 and two teamings with Bachman, in 1977 and 1987)

In 1999 the classic foursome, Burton, Randy, Jim Kale and Gary Peterson reunited to play at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg. This lead to Burton and Randy rejoining TGW on a more regular basis starting in 2000. I saw them when they came to Philly in 2001. GREAT SHOW!
In early 2004 Burton and Randy split off to continue their solo careers and do more duo shows. I guess they got tired of having to pay bassist Jim Kale a cut of the shows since he owns The Guess Who name(LONG STORY........)

The current Guess Who is:
Jim Kale(original bassist, backing vocals and owner of the name!)
Gary Peterson(original drummer)
Carl Dixon(lead vocals, guitar, was in Coney Hatch, April Wine.......and GW from 1997-2000)
Leonard Shaw(vocals, kybds, sax, flute, was in GW before from 1990-2000)
Bobby Bilan(lead guitar, was in GW briefly back in 1979-1980)

Jimmy! Thanks so much for that little past-to-the-present recap on The Guess Who. I am a big fan of a lot of their music, but I think Undun is my favorite. I always loved Burton Cummings voice.

Me too! Love Burton's voice!
They reunited in 1977 but Burton declined since his solo career was going pretty well. He did okay down here with Stand Tall(1976) and You Saved My Soul(1981) but was HUGE in Canada. His 1978 Dream of a Child album was the best selling album in Canada for years.
The Guess Who had many lineups and quite a few lead singers from 1977-2000. I never liked any of them, at least not with The Guess Who. Good singers in their own right but just not Burton......
Jim Kale was in serious financial trouble back in 1977 and got the okay to tour as Guess Who from Burton & Randy. They figured since he still had some of the original and/or classic Guess Who players(like Gary Peterson, Don McDougal and the late great KURT WINTER on guitar!) that it would be cool. But then....Kale ended up hiring brand new guys every few years and putting them on salary. He then TRADEMARKED the name. At the time Burton & Randy didn't think they'd need it since Burton was doing well and Randy'd had big success himself with BTO.
Problem is....Burton is only really a household word north of the border. Down here......DIFFERENT STORY! Most people go see GW thinking it's all the original guys and don't know any better.
Needless to say Kale is not exactly Burton's favorite person, though Burton had the last laugh. He was able, BY SLIM CHANCE, to grab hold of the GW publishing which is worth MILLIONS!!!!And Randy ain't too happy that Burt was not willing to share, even though he co-wrote most of the bigger ones! But that's another story......

Back in 1998 or so I had the priviledge of introducing "The Guess Who" on stage in Paducah, KY when I worked for KGMO. As far as I know, the only original member was the drummer and bass player. I had no idea who else was who because I wasn't familiar with the musicians, only their songs. The guy on lead vocals sounded like a carbon copy to me so it was still an excellent show. Do not know who they have with them now, but if you enjoy their music you will enjoy them live.

Hi Mike. The GW lineup in 1998 is pretty much the same as the one they have now except for the guitarist(Bobby Bilan now instead of Dale Russell) The singer, Carl Dixon, is a fantastic singer who sang for Coney Hatch and has also played with April Wine. I'd say he's the best non-Burton Cummings singer they ever had. I did see them with Carl, I'm just partial to BC as you can tell. It is still a fairly enjoyable show as you've pointed out. I certainly agree.
