Perhaps it's because we cannot always read the emotional content intended with the words. So we apply our own emotions and ideas to the words.

And once we do that...well...we assume things. And no one..."wins".

I think everyone has a right to post their opinion on here on how they feel about the band Styx, past and present.

I have never really understood how calling someone's flippant remarks into question is somehow infringing on their "right" to have the opinion. Is it not the other person's right to question them about their sincerity, bias, or call them on being completely FOS? The answer is yes. It is their right - so why do we always come back to who has a right to post what?

I never said Ash or anyone else shouldn't be ALLOWED to say whatever they want. I have maintained that I am sick & tired of reading some of the left-handed B.S. I read here, but that's not the same as trying to dictate what they CAN say. On the same token, I don't think hiding behind the cloak of "rights" is a good excuse to be ignorant or otherwise rude. Of course, it's your right, but it doesn't mean everyone should just tolerate or accept it for that reason alone. Yeah, Froy has a right to be an inflammatory jackass, but we also have a right to tell him he's acting like one. See my point here?

I'm just glad that Dennis and Glen are performing together !! I feel that they don't NEED to do these few concert dates together and it is mostly for the music together. They enjoyed the first 2 dates together and added a few more.

I agree that it is a cool deal. I think it's a real treat for fans of Styx to be able to see these shows, where available. I felt the same way in the early 90s when we had a touring STYX and Damn Yankees...Then later, the JYG. I was happy as a pig in muck. Now, we have a similiar thing going, in spite of naysayers' and "Purists'" opinions on the matter. I think it rocks.

Bottom line: It was a bizarre thing to say. Why would Glen or Dennis NEED to tour together? Who NEEDS to tour together, really? No one that I can think of. It seems apparent to me and obvious others here that Ash thinks there are people that do, and as jrnyman said, since this *is* a Styx board, it's not a far cry to assume he was taking a jab at the band in his praises for Dennis & Glen. he has said he didn't mean to do that, and I'll have to take his word for it.

I am curious to know how Ash would react if someone (like Yogi) were to post something like (and this is hypothetical, not necessarily my own opinion here): "Tommy's wife is so classy. It's nice to see a woman who knows how to dress appropriately for her age." Considering the past friction between Ash & Yogi on the subject of Suzanne's wardrobe, I would venture a guess that Ash might jump to the conclusion that Yogi was not just complimenting Jeanne, but using the opportunity to take a shot at Suzanne. Wouldn't you? That's *exactly* what I felt Ash did, and instead of admitting or refuting it, he got condescending, began spewing profanities at Angie and myself, all while playing some sort of mental superiority card on anyone who dares to question his motives.

But whatever. I'm "paranoid." I have no greater purpose in life then to be the band's Internet bouncer. And let's not forget, I always jump to unreasonable and crazy conclusions. Although, I had a writing teacher in college that always used to say: THE BURDEN OF CLARITY LIES ON THE WRITER. If your reader is deducing someone other than what you meant, than you weren't clear enough, and that's *your* fault, not theirs.

In fairness, I will be very clear on this: My last post which said: "Ash - got it. It's all clear. Enjoy it for whatever reason works for you" was sincere. I personally don't agree with what you said to the extent that you and some others do, but I understand where you're coming from in the sense that they aren't being held at gunpoint or have contractual obligations to tour or anything.

K?

Zan,

Now why am I involved in this?? I Love Styx, Dennis & Glen. I Am FRANCE, minus the ordor,.... 100% nuetral!!!!!!!

Wardrobe & Suzanne what the hell are you talking about???

Now I know I have taken a few shots at Dawn Marie and her choices or lack thereof of her undergarments.

I think I have even gotten on Tommy's child bride, her class trips, playing with the stove without her parents permission, and her haircutting ability.

I ve gotten on THE JY LEGEND too for his digging through garbage dumps for food.

I have never gotten on Ricky, because I dont know who he is.

Now back to Suzanne. Many moons ago I was on her after the Behind The Music episode aired. She came off as a TOTAL bitc to me. I even referred to her as Yok........... Sorry, I wont go there again. I also apologize for offending ANYBODY about the Yok comparission. Later I realized VH1 made her and Dennis look bad and it wasnt entirely true. That whole episode was very slanted and unfair.

I also might of gotten on her( Suzanne) about her book. But thats about it I think?????????????????

Now let me think..........................................................

That wasnt her all draped in leather on Dennis's site was it??? It couldnt be!!!! Because of the way Dennis gets on old rock stars for wearing leather that would be hypocritical.

Bottom line I LOVE the band, but from time to time it's fun to poke a little fun at em.

If I offend some people I am sorry. Its ONLY MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!

Hysterical... only in a forum can the righteous act indignant and the indignant act righteous. At the end of the day we're all the same. Nobody has a high horse and nobody is "right".

For one person to look at the words of another withouth looking at their own words demonstrates the very stupidity they hope to expose.

It's time to grow up children. The war is over... and we lost.

As for me I no longer choose to be angry... because there's nothing to be angry about. I'm very happy with where things are headed and people's actions and attitudes will dictate their pleasure or displeasure with the road ahead. You could say the cracks are already showing. And today's crack in the road is tomorrow's earthquake.

Ash,

With ALL due respect what in the hell are you talking about???

Are you talking about The Band, Us Posters or The World that we are all currently living in.

Whatever you are refering to it was a deep deep post indeed.

Ash,

Why are you sooooo offended?? I TRULY enjoyed your post. I just didnt know what in the world you were talking about???????

It was waayyyy toooooo deep and intellectual for me to comprehend.

Remember, I live in the southern portion of the U.S..

You take away Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Alabama, Louisiana & Texas and there is 'No Such Thing' ( Tommy Shaw reference)( gotta keep this Styx related) as The Jerry Springer Show.

So Ash, please forgive me if I could not locate my inner child, or get in touch with my junior college psychology teacher to try and figure out what in the hell you were posting!!

I'm in Tennessee. And Jerry Springer sucks :)

This thread is so far off where it started that in many ways I helped it become what I hated. This thread shouldn't be about me - it should be able Glen and Dennis. You can specifically thank Zan for making it about me. This forum is in one of it's phases where it's not about talking about things as it is looking for something in someone's post to get all excited over. I realize there are people here who do that constantly - but for the most part the majority are usually more mature than that.

I guess the stars just aren't aligned in favor of maturity right now. Which is cool - I'll just come back another time.

BTW - as long as you're not dipping Copenhagen AND listening to Steve Earl - there's hope for you to not be complete trailer trash. (joke)

We have wandered so far off the reservation here ... may as well go with this new subject line.

Some folks mix up Steve Earl and Robert Earl Keen. Steve was not born in Texas, and I don't really associate his music as much with Texas, even though he has many Texas connections and grew up in Texas.

Robert Earl Keen is Texan through and through and has stayed right here.

Both do sort of alt-country, outlaw country, country-rock, rock-country...I guess any of those fit. I feel that Steve Earl is really more rock-oriented than Robert Earl Keen.

And Robert Earl Keen wrote, with Lyle Lovett, one of my very favorite songs -- This Old Porch.

So I have wandered afar from Dennis/Glen, but thought I would throw in my .02.

Now I gotta go out and see if my house has a flat and look for my can of snuff.

Its not a real country song unless it talks about drinking ,mother, prison, the rain, pickup trucks, trains & train stations.

P.S. As long as we are off the subject why didnt Jack Baur let other people hear the recording. My god, '24' was the absolute best show EVER until last night. He had 100 chances for others to hear it and he refused to play it. Get Real, a wanna be CTU agent still in diapers would of known better.

That damn show kept me up for two additional hours last night I was soooo pissed. Jack HAD to know better. Whooo Gotta go...., Springer is about to come on. The TV Guide says the show is suppose to be about people that need to get a life. Most of his guests today hail( hale) from the great state of Tennessee!!!

It means Jack Baur made an error that was soooo critical that it should put him back into making more Lost Boy movies.

He gives the tape recorder of the president implicating himself to Chole to clean up. Come on get real. To begin with, he could of played it over the air when he hijacked the diplomatic plane. He had dozens of chances for others to hear the tape recording, yet he refused to play it.

It's back to being a vampire Jack!! Your days at CTU are finished!!!!!!!!!!
