Oh i take it for what it is....the most camp crap 4 minutes ever recorded ....... if people was to see that video or hear that song as their first introduction to styx they would drive over a cliff....... how can someone who has wrote some classic songs bring that idiotic garbage to the table....no wonder Tommy jumped ship.

So they had a song that was fun and naughty, big deal. Almost every band has a song that most people can't stand.

Tommy's jumped right back on the ship, so it couldn't have been that bad

I think "worst song ever" could be attached to their worst video award. GAH, twenty seconds was enough for me!

And you bash Dennis this morning for what reason may i ask?
Your boy Gowan was bitch slapped yesterday so you need to fight back?
Darren you can't look anyone in the face and say that Gowan is a good singer he is trash
He should go back to his solo career.

if people was to see that video or hear that song as their first introduction to styx they would drive over a cliff.......

They already drove off that cliff when they heard Gowan sing Doctor
They must have said this Dennis Gowan stinks
Of course they are so young they don't even know what they are talking about. But thats what current Styx wants new fans that are clueless.

Music Time isn't the best song - but I found the video to be very entertaining and clever... I especially liked John Panozzo in this one. I almost watch it just to see his parts. I think it was intended to bring out the humor side of the band which Dennis has talked more about in recent years.

As a 14 year old kid, I thought Music Time was absolutely hilarious, but as I got older, the song just sort of was "there" for me.

I don't mind it, but it's definately not one of my top 10 faves.

I'll agree that Dennis wanted to show a funnier side of the band, but sadly by then, the axe had fallen after the whole Kilroy Was Here fiasco.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked Kilroy. Just Get Through This Night and Haven't We Been Here Before (best Dennis and Tommy harmonies - EVER) are two of my all time favorite Styx songs, but Roboto was played to death and people got sick of it.

Another Note on Haven't We Been Here Before - That's the tune I listen to and say "wow" still to this day that song gives me chills.

If Tommy and Dennis ever do decide to work together again, that would definately be a song I'd ask them to do!

Then after the whole thing was done and Styx released Caught In The Act (I'm sure to try and recoop some of the money the tour had lost) People looked/heard Music Time and said "WTF? First Robots and now this?" NEXT! . I'm sure they skipped that track and went straight to the live stuff.

To be honest I'm even surprised it cracked the top 40.

Now that I'm an adult, saw the amazing 1996 Return To Paradise Tour, try and balance myself on the fence since 99, and when it comes to Music Time, all I can think of was "where can I get some of the drugs they were on when they did that video!"

My god. I'd never seen that video but never have I seen anything so clearly depicting why the band broke up at that point.

And as for that fat chick's video? Good lord.

I agree with Ash here. My friends and I were very amused with the silly video and song when it came out back in 1984. We certainly weren't going to put it in our top 10 of Styx tunes but it showed the group had a sense of humor and liked to take the piss out of themselves from time to time.

I'd be very curious to see how amused people woulda been if they'd decided to do a full studio album around this time.

Think of the horrors.

Well actually Big J, I don't think so.. Remember, the DDY, JY and TS solo albums all had songs on them that were suppose to be Styx songs..

Now I'm not sure which songs were supposedly done for Styx (I know chain Me Down was) but if you can imagine IF that album would have been 2 or three of those songs each, because we knew by that time very little "group" writing was taking place..

Don't Wait For Hereos
Girls With Guns
Come In And Explain
Desert Moon
Heads Up
Chain Me Down
Gravity
Still Feel Your Love
Lonely School
Wild Dogs
Dear Darling
Kiss Me Hello

I think it wouldn't have been that bad of an album!

Well if by that you mean one Dennis DeYoung....

Of course, one could argue that there are plenty of terrible Styx songs. But lighten up on Music Time. It was a fun song. If you can't see that, then well...maybe you need to get a better outlook on life...or at least a sense of humour.

Unfortunately it fits perfectly into the 80's goofy rock song and video category. It's par for that time period.
