Zan, did you make it to the great state of Wisconsin this past weekend???

I was hoping to hear a full report on the concert and the Faire

I did manage to make it to Wisconsin! Thanks for asking. It was 7 days worth of stuff crammed into 36 hours. I was waiting for Froy to call me and invite me to the speedo-fest he was having, but my phone never rang.

Actually, we were SO swamped with "stuff" that I didn't have a moment to relax starting from Saturday morning when I woke up at dawn to leave for my flight to Chicago.

Seeing everyone was probably the best part of the weekend for me. Some people I'd not seen in years, some I'd never even met before. It was a big crowd of us, and we had a groovy time.

The concert was great, as always - albeit a *tad* hot. Just a tad. I've taken 3 showers since then, and I still feel sticky. The crowd was a very rowdy, no holds barred give me my rock n roll straight-up kinda crowd, if that helps. Another way to describe them is drunk and loud. Foghat opened the show for Styx. They are possibly the loudest band I've ever seen live.

I spent the first hour asking every man in the front row if he was Dave, since kansas666 told me they had VIP tickets. Turns out, Dave was in the 6th row, and I made a total fool of myself in front of complete strangers. No major change there.

I got some great pictures, even though the stage was like 8 feet high - a bit like watching a movie from the front row. I threw out something in my neck from dancing - not sure what it was, and my feet felt like they'd been stoned to death by the end of the night. Did I mention it was hot? My favorite was the smorgasboard of flying insects. At one point during the show, Gowan, knowing what a deprived fan I am, took one of Ricky's pics off the stand and tossed it my way. But see, I was looking somewhere else and didn't see him do this. Hence, when I looked up, all I saw was a fluttering unidentified flying thing go zipping past my face, and naturally, I thought it was a locust, and reacted accordingly with a murderous "AGHHHBLAHAGGAAUGH!!!!!" Jeff, Louann's husband, thought that was the highlight of the show.

Maybe for HIM. lol

The Ren faire was really very nice. They have a permanent set-up over there, as opposed to the makeshift, travelling show we get down here in S. Florida. But it was um, hot. I bought a chain mail belt that absolutely kicks ass. Then I drove Fran to Milwaukee, and back to Chicago for my flight, which had been delayed due to a broken plane taking passengers to Las Vegas. I love when they say "broken plane." I got home around 2 am and collapsed. Then I woke up Monday and watched my favorite cat die. It's been a busy weekend, and I feel like I've been hit by a train, but I'm sure I'd do it again tomorrow if I had the opportunity.
