hello again, and a special hello to you robin. I would just like to say you don't know what your talking about. As a matter of fact i do know ddy told gowan he would like to break his fingers because of the fact that gowan can play circles around ddy, for your info. it was JY who told me of that event which happened after a concert in quebec where gowan opened up for styx while ddy was still "fronting" the band. How i get my info. from band members, you can guess.

I think tommy put it best, when asked why he did not include more Styx songs in his solo/damn yankees sets, he said he always wanted to do Fooling Yourself, but could not find anybody good enough to play the keyboards live. Speaks volumes.

Do you know what a sampler does? Even if you're using a sampler you still need to be able to play the part.

Samplers were available in the eighties althought they cost a kings ransom.

No one ever questioned Gowan's keyboard playing - its his voice that sucks.

Gowan's voice really isn't that bad, but it isn't right on most of the DDY tunes. It's too thin. Only his version of "Lady" is OK.

I do like his songs like "A Criminal Mind" and "Fields of the Brave" where it's Gowan being Gowan, not DDY.

Really? All this time I thought it was his hair that sucked. Oh, well.

To me Lawrence Gowan does an excellant vocal job on "The Grand Illusion." "Lady" and "Come Sail Away" sound all right but I get the impression he puts his soul into singing "The Grand Illusion." I know some out there won't agree with me on this but that's okay.

Zan,

You F#$*in' B%#$&, how dare you post such obviously Pro-Gowan propaganda on a Styx site?

That reviewer was just too cool. Slamming everyone and everything in site. Tommy a 'Cowardly Lion' beard? Steve Walsh squeaking? What a dick.
