I wasn't sure whether you were joking or not. Citing a handful of songs where the death growl isn't used isn't exactly interesting or compelling empirical evidence that they can sing, is it? Do you want me to cite you pages full of examples where they patently show their inability to sing? Humming over a ballad, which are few and far between, doesn't qualify you as a metal singer, let alone even in the vicinity of metal's worst singers in Araya.

my god.......you said those guys couldn't sing...i showed they could (did you even listen to the clips?)...the guys in Into Eternity are really good...sing 3-4 piece harmonies. They don't use it all the time and the death vox play around a 50% role in Into Eternity's stuff...but the fuckers can still sing...much cleaner and have a far larger range than someone like James Hetfield......i don't see why you won't admit you were wrong. I'd like to hear some others people opinions on here on whether or not the samples posted are more melodic than Tom Araya's vocals.

I guess because Steve Lukather doesn't shred in every Toto song means that he's not capable of shredding too huh? I'm applying your logic here buddy.

I think its an average record. As to always buying with Bruce? Fear of the Dark and No Prayer didn't sell well (relative to the times)... Fans make distinction between quality and crap.

Its more a case of Bruce returning (after two strong solo cds with Adrian...who also rejoined at this time too) and the hoipe of a strong return after the two audio abortions they put out with Blaze.

But you suggested that, since I disagree with you and the "widespread opinion", that I am unknowledgeable.

I post on a few metal forums and have read a lot of others and 95% of the comments are negative in regards to St Anger...you telling me you haven't read many negative comments about the album?

but it is hard to assert something that sells 2 million in the US and millions more worldwide as a clunker when other big bands have done far worse with a "bad" release.

What about bands like The Offspring, Nickelback etc that release crap albums that sell similar amount of figures? see where i'm coming from?

You just made my point.

No i didn't...again you wrote

I'm sorry, but you're never going to hear, 'oh, Into Eternity influenced me to become a hardrock/metal band'. No, they are going to look to Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Rush, Zep, Purple, Motorhead, Metallica et al.

in 15/20 years these influences will be 3 generations old.......thats like trying to say a rap kid today is not going to be influenced by 50 cent.....but is going to look to Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash et al.

Sounds like you are stuck in the past.

Okay....Toto's new album 'Falling In Between is a better album than Rush's 'Vapour Trails'.

I am a long time Rush fan...and don't really class myself as anything but a casual listener to Toto.

Time will judge all, those tracks that were written (in any genre) to last will be remembered. There was alot of stuff in the 80s that was popular thats been forgotten, some stuff that will always be remembered.

Same can be said for every decade gone by (even classical/instrumental pieces from the 1800's and before)

There will be influences noted, artists that were judged as crackpots at the time but innovators and cutting edge years later.

For this reason TOTO will be remembered in some circles, Queen definatly will be remembered for their contrubution.
Nirvana will be remembered for pioneering grunge / garage band / alternative music.

Time will judge :)
Regards,
Jim.
