Actually, that's basicaly what it is..."Dean, you ignorant slut...blah, blah, blah". Taking it any more serious then that is taking it WAY too seriously.

And, I'll reluctantly see you in Ames.

If reluctant, then why bother? Not being condescending, really interested in knowing why you'd come out if it's not what you want? Trust me, I do hope to turn you around with how things are this leg but honestly I would never see my favorite band with someone I didn't approve of fronting them...not even for free!

Either way, see you in IA, I'll be the one with the torn jeans!

Sure beats paying to see a human mouthpiece for a fucking 8-track player!
Besides, when was the last time you fired up the John Deere and left the pig farm anyways.

Nope...you have simply given me NO reason to believe you. So, I don't. It's as simple as that.

And you've seen them with JSS how many times?

None. But, that doesn't mean I should be willing to pay $75 ticket to see them.

Keep saying that. Maybe it will come true. It's your only hope.
You're like Froy crossing his toes and fingers praying for the Deyoung miracle.

I don't think he even believes that will happen. Ironicaly, he used to be a huge supporter of Journey too, and now thinks their a joke too. Funny you should mention him.

Augeri's absence is soooooo not a huge deal.

No, Journey without a singer who sings Journey as it was meant to be sung IS. Give them a solo tour and will go downhill.

People come to hear the catalog and will continue to do so.

People go to remember 198x...and that's hard to do when the band no longer sounds like they are from 198x....which is what you people WANT to happen.

Well, ok, you need an internet connection which costs...but hell, this kinda shit makes my job a living dream...I get to come off stage singing songs that were my musical bible with the greatest band on EARTH to tons of cheering fans & then cuddle up with the laptop & enjoy my 'show'...believe me, this doesn't get under my skin, I learned a LONG time ago, you can't please everyone & there'll always be someone who disapproves. Bottom line, I get to do it all again tomorrow night, I am a lucky man :)

By all means....please continue....the appreciation threads are boring after a while, ha ha!

Thanks for caring though...all of you who do approve...I wouldn't trade this for the world right now, my best summer ever :)

All I can say is thank God u have a great sense of humor. My dad always said the same thing. U can't please everyone. BTW, I loved the "torn jeans" comment. Keep wearing 'em. U look great & sound great. I'm glad ur enjoying it. C'mon back down to FL soon. :D

Oh any chance u could do some Queen songs & ur own solo stuff anywhere anytime in the future? That's something I'd love to see.

Deano stuck his neck out for the fans. Put plenty of evidence out there. If you failed to take advantage of that, don't take it out on him or anyone else.

None. But, that doesn't mean I should be willing to pay $75 ticket to see them.

Why not? You were willing to pay that much to go listen to a tape deck.

Monker wrote:Ironicaly, [Froy] used to be a huge supporter of Journey too, and now thinks their a joke too.

Not because of JSS.
He officially swore off Journey after "Generations" failed to meet his haughty criteria.
His precise words were "the jig is up".

I'm giving u the benefit of the doubt because I know you didn't see Augeri that many times in concert.
Hate to break it to you, but on many nights, Augeri sounded nothing like Perry.
And on some nites they purposelly kept him so low in the mix that you couldn't hear him at all.
Like I've said ad nauseum, people come for the catalog.

Cuz, when I bought the tickets, there was certain change that hadn't happened. I bought into one thing and I'm getting another. If I was big into Ebay and such, I probably would just sell them. But, that's life...roll with it and deal with it.

Trust me, I do hope to turn you around with how things are this leg

I wouldn't expect anything else from someone in your position. That's just the way it should be. I doubt you would be where you are today if you didn't have that attitude everytime you stood on stage, no matter who you shared the stage with.

but honestly I would never see my favorite band with someone I didn't approve of fronting them...not even for free!

Call it a last hurray, if you want. I've been disapointed with many things Journey over the past year or so...not just you. Like I've said in another post, I haven't agreed with many yof their decisions lately. So, now we come to this and it just feels like the right time to let it go. There just doesn't seem like much is left to hold on to anyways.

Either way, see you in IA, I'll be the one with the torn jeans!

Yeah, well, I'll let Dean or TNC describe me...That way you'll never find me :D

Bullshit...He did it for himself.

Put plenty of evidence out there.

He put plenty of OPINIONS out there and then asked for MORE opinions. Then, when some people didn't hold the same opinion as he did, they were fucking morons.

That's not 'evidence', that's a bullshitter at work...and you guys are STILL working it.

Again, I don't believe your bullshit story about a 'tape'. So, I didn't put money down for a "tape deck".

Well, he wasn't too far off. It's not like Generations was anything special for a Journeyalbum.

I don't think so.

This tour is not much different then Main Event. People come for the EVENT and the ability to relive their youth. It's the "OMG, Journey and Def Leppard in concert? I MUST see THAT!" It's the same with Journey/Styx/REO...

But, you take them out solo, then you are limiting the audience and it's not so much an EVENT...it's just reliving their youth...and that audienceis SPECIFIC to JOURNEY. If they deviate too far away from 198x sound, then even THEY are not going to continue being interested...that's why I say two solo tours, and that's it. After that, all you have left are BT and MR.COM folks, and a few strays.

Then I'm afraid you're a permanent resident of Dimension X.
Where people still believe Ross and Smitty left over creative differences, where Perry is on the mend to belatedly tour for TBF, and where Augeri is sipping chicken noodle soup to aid his throat.

Just because a multitude of opinions were offerred doesn't mean none of them were valid.
Many were.

Well, he wasn't too far off. It's not like Generations was anything special for a Journeyalbum.

It was decent, except for that wrecking ball sized turd, "Believe".

So what? I don't think he EVER sounded anything like Perry. His voice and style sounded like JOURNEY...not PERRY.

Maybe on studio albums, but on many nights he sounded neither like Journey, nor Perry, just a sweet man very out of his depth.

This tour is not much different then Main Event. People come for the EVENT and the ability to relive their youth. It's the "OMG, Journey and Def Leppard in concert? I MUST see THAT!" It's the same with Journey/Styx/REO...

We'll just have to wait and see then, won't we?
My gut instinct is that Journey's next solo tour will be as profitable as the Generations tour, if not more so.

It's all about the catalog, stupid.

See, there's a HUGE difference....

You have Steve Smith saying he was fired, Herbie saying they were fired, Elson saying he didn't have to be diplomatic about it, and even Perry applogizing...

All you have for your bullshit story is yours and Dean's word - and a bunch of various opinions about bootleg tapes.

One doesn't even come CLOSE to comparing to the other.

As for Perry being 'on the mend'...There really wan't any reason to NOT believe that since Perry said he was FINE in a radio interview, which was passed around at the time. It became obvious to ME that there wasn't going to be a summer tour when it became early spring and NO DATES WERE ANNOUNCED.

Again, totaly different...and it doesn't even sound like you know what you are talking about when you say what peole were thinking during TBF.

As for the chicken soup thing, who cares about that at thhis point?

Not initially.
Him and Ross both toed the PR line and kept their yammers shut.
These things always effervesce in time.

All you have for your bullshit story is yours and Dean's word

Two of the former biggest Augeri fans in existence....

But to hell with me and Deano.
You are omitting the very respected melodic artist Michael St. Allen who was bemoaning the extensive use of tapes on the Noticeboard...perhaps even before Dean brought it to light. For what its worth, the Swedish sound guy, Svante, also contributed his first hand account. And this forums very own would-be journalist, Bionic, has said all her/his sources checked out the same thing, too.

At least Deano offered something up.
What have you offered up besides a maelstrom of overwrought cynicism?

it doesn't even sound like you know what you are talking about when you say what peole were thinking during TBF.

People were thinking Journey was back and they were duped.
Much in the same way you were hoodwinked into thinking you were gonna see a live Augeri concert.
