Did they play Denny's hits with the orchestra? If they did and they release a cd that includes the hits I would be pretty inclined to buy both formats.

They played a couple, but I understand they won't be on the CD or DVD.

Do you want to know how many Dennis' dvd's sold in the US and compare it after the new Styx dvd is released?

Do you want to compare the dvd's released by other "older" bands and know how many units they sold?

Do you want a monthly update on how many Styx dvd's have been sold after the release?

Does anyone care about these figures? Not to flame, but to talk about?

Dream Theater just recently released a concert dvd. I know that they're nothing like new Styx, but this is how many they sold:

As previously reported, DREAM THEATER's "Score" two-DVD set sold more than 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on Billboard's Top Music Video chart. Meanwhile, the DREAM THEATER "Score" three-CD set shifted around 7,000 copies to land at No. 134 on The Billboard 200.

"Score" contains DREAM THEATER's entire "20th Anniversary World Tour" grand finale recorded live at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on April 1, 2006 (nearly three hours of music — over 90 minutes of which was performed with a full orchestra). The DVD also contains a one-hour documentary tracking the entire career of the band from the very beginnings at the Berklee College Of Music in 1985 all the way to the Radio City Music Hall grand finale. It also features rare, never-before-seen footage and interviews with current and previous members of the band, plus several live bonus tracks from through the years taken from the archives of Mike Portnoy.

I always enjoy reading the "numbers" Suite, so bring it on. It does not just have to be for DDY or Current Styx. I would be curious about others.
Dream Theater certainly did well there, no?

There will be no Dennis songs because he (DDY) still has control over them. That is one thing he can do, control his songs. He doesn't want them on video and they (TS&JY) have to get his permission to release them. They can also no longer release live versions of his songs on a CD. The only exception is "Lady". It will be interesting to see if the medley has his songs chopped out, much like the "Edge 99" CD single edited out Roboto.

Mike, they performed the medley without his songs in it, so it's a little different then the usual touring medley.

Nothing cut out, I guess each song is a little longer..

And they only cut out the songs that DDY solely wrote in the medley, like Pieces of Eight and Mr. Roboto I think the rest stay.

Well Froy, they had to leave those songs out because a certain frontman would sue them for breaking the agreement they had. Ya know, the lawsuit that he filed before JY settled it?

I know you're bitter about the whole thing Froy but JESUS CHRIST allready..it's two songs in the medley big deal!

So we don't hear 1 minute of Mr. Roboto or Pieces of Eight and we don't have another LIVE DVD with Come Sail Away or Grand Illusion on it. I thought for sure you'd be ok with that since you can't stand Gowan to begin with!

You jump on Tommy and JY for this but yet nothing is said when DDY tried to renegotiate contracts in the early 90's so that SONGWRITERS were the ones that got the royalties from the albums. This basically meant screwing over the other "founding members" of the band. Ya know, the Panozzo brothers? They'd still get money from "touring" but when you're off the road for 7 years, that doesn't bring in a lot of revenue!

What I still dont' get is how you come here and say "One With Everything" is a good song and you like it and then your next post you say "this band sucks, Gowan sucks, I wish Zan sucked me, (oops, did I say that outloud? lol) everything on Cyclorama sucks, blah, blah, blah..

Now you're saying that DDY is starting to suck because he hasn't changed his setlist, skits etc.

Will you ever be happy?

Well, it's a tad more than that. Technically, they can do a mechanical license for an audio only CD (a la Styxworld, Arch Allies) and not have to involve the artist. That is, unles some other legal agreement prevented that. However, when you sync audio and video, that's a whole different ballgame. DDY would have to give his approval - again, unless some other legal document circumvented that. Clearly it doesn't.

The flow of the DVD is going to suck (as does the set flow of their current concerts - no real ebb and tide), but at least I can say it's not another rehash of the stuff they've released. And to be honest, I don't need another version of Gowan singing "Come Sail Away".
