I believe performance night is always live. Live band etc. This show is done exactly like American Idol and that is 100% live. I do know they tape their dress rehearsal, and that is the footage they show at the end of the program with the phone number for calling in to vote.

Dennis really enhanced his image with his appearances on this show, IMO. 5+ million viewers. Both of his performances with Hal Sparks were the highlight of each night and Roboto was given a very elaborate staging. The audience really seemed to love both songs.
