Since this was written for Edge ll I was wondering will JY, Chuck & Johns family receive some cash if Dennis puts this on his next CD and it sells???
yogi wrote: Hell I read on another site( Spiceworld err Styxworld) that Tommy said he was the one that actually inspired this song. I believe Tommy said that when he and Dennis met on that elevator he told Dennis ' thank god the elevator is empty' he understood why he wrote Babe, that he(Dennis) did it 'all for love'.
He also explained to Dennis 'that one shot is all he, Jack and Ted wanted'. He would now take off his fighting gloves and they( Dennis & Tommy) could now be friends again. Tommy has stated that Dennis & Glen stole his lyrics and used them in All for Love.
Jodes wrote:I don't ever recall reading that about "All For Love" maybe it was said in his Myspace account, but nothing ever appeared on Styxworld.
Nothing on his official site too..

yogi wrote:Come on Sadie & Bugsy I was stating 100% factual information about Dennis 'ONCE AGAIN' stealing Tommy's lyrics and passing it off on his own work. Dennis has stepped on Tommy and JY for that matter time and time again.
This has to stop!!!!!!!
Go visit Montgomery Alabama. On the corner of 4th and MLK Blvd there is a Bowling Alley called The 10th Frame. When Tommy used to play there( back in the early 70's) it was called 'Castle Walls' Bowling E$ntertainment Center. There are three ex workers; Clem Hopkins, Earl ( T-Bone) Fischer & Bubba Haskins, they will all tell you that M.S. Funk( Tommy's old band) would close EVERY show with a song he wrote called 'I'm Bowling Away'. The tune is EXACTLY the same as Come Sail Away. Even some of the lyrics were stolen. How about Dennis also titling a song Castle Walls?? I suppose that doesnt matter either???
Clem, T-Bone & Bubba can be found most days drinking in the parking lot of Rite Liquor Store. It is located about 4 miles up on MLK from the 10th Frame. They will verify that my information is factual.
Sterling will also talk about this in his upcoming book. He knows Clem, T-Bone & Bubba. He's been to the lanes.
Go there. Ask em if I'm not telling you all the truth.
I double dare you!!!!!!!!!

Interesting. I know Tommy has always said that the chorus melody and guitar riff for CSA were lifted from his song "Ain't Gettin' Down For You". The middle section, the Who-like instrumental piece, was JY's addition as well as the idea for the angels to be aliens. I think obviously the verses were Dennis' completely, and the lyric as well, and the he borrowed various ideas for the arrangement and such. Not unlike the way that Styx' version of "Crystal Ball" is dramatically different from the way Harvest played it, or the way Dennis helped Tommy re-arrange "Renegade" completely, or the way that Dennis contributed to "Miss America" without a writing credit. The opening synth lick for "Fooling Yourself" was JY's, and Dennis borrowed it for a Styxified arrangement of what had been a completely acoustic idea from Tommy, but neither JY nor Dennis got credit on that song. That went on all the time. The way Styx used to credit things was, whomever got the idea really started usually got the credit, except in a few cases where people made really defined contributions.
I should mention that although Tommy and JY point out all the time that they were not credited on CSA, they had a corporate structure in which they could have insisted on a vote on the matter and out-voted Dennis and put their names on the song if they had felt it was important at the time. This is one of those things where hindsight, and the fact that the song became a defining song for Styx, has changed their perspective a bit.
I hope all is well.
Sterling
