Btw.. yes, Larry doing Babe was only done twice once in Japan and once in Germany in 2000, both times they weren't Special Requests, but were in the contract the band signed. If they didn't do them, they would be breaking their contract.

Larry also says that out of respect for Dennis and his wife, he will not perform it in North America, and to my knowledge, they have not played it since 2000. Honestly it doesn't really go well with the setlist that Styx is currently playing.

Yes Styxfansite, the Gowan DVD is of his solo material, from 4 albums he released here in Canada almost 10 years before he joined Styx.

I'm sure it will be gold/platinum in Canada within a few months, Larry does have a fan base here.

Is there an audio file somehwere of Larry singing Babe? Just curious about what it sounded like.

It would be Gowan singing it....and yes it would be Suite Madame Blue

as for Babe...I know it's out there somewhere. I have it around here somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it out.

You mean the co-founder, writer of "7" top 10 songs. Helped the band to 7 "GOLD" albums, 2 "Platinum", 3 "triple Platinum" albums and 1 "double Platinum" album. That Guy???? Who also has a triple platinum in canada now of his own or someone else from Styx. Although the albums above just wasn't "the other guy's" music and the whole band, but Gowan was no where in site.

Not saying anything bad about Gowan, but a lot of good about Dennis :D .

No, I am calling him that other guy because, JY always calls him that.

Just because someone is being disrespectful and acting like an ass doesn't mean you should. Take the higher ground and give Dennis his due.

Remember, without the "other guy" aka Dennis aka "The VOice of Styx", there probably wouldn't be a Styx. Tommy would still be with MsFunk, and Jy would be working for Nasa. I know that John and Chuck really started this back in the 60's, and Dennis joined in, but I don't think they would have had the success without him. The guys now, owe Dennis more than they know of and more that they care to admit.

Brandon,

You don't have to have the last word everytime. Tommy replaced JC. In the land of original members, he is not one of them. True Tommy has had an impact on this band in a large way, But Dennis, Chuck and John are the founders who added the other players as Styx got it's identity. Styx with JC, not Tommy had the A&M deal prior to Tommy joining. Don't join the revisionist history of the band as some choose to do.

Those of us on this board are well rehearsed in the history of the band, more than you will ever know.

I got mine copy of the DVD today at Best Buy In Edmonton, sticker price was 17.99, but since it's a new release I got it for 13.99 CDN.

BTW.. this was after going to 3 different future shops and HMV West Edmonton Mall (second largetst HMV in Canada) and it was sold out in each one.

I'm sure it will reach gold status in the next few months!

Hi, Jodes,

I had the same problem. I've got one on hold for me at A & B Sound after calling around and finding it was sold out all over town.

Dearest Froy.
I can't believe the grief and torture you are putting yourself through.
You are watching a videoclips by a guy (who's guts and voice you hate) singing THE song that made Styx and butchering it to smithereens.
You read interviwiews by a guy you can't stand ,talking sbout the guy you love so dearly.
You look at pictures of Tommy, even when you can't stand his long hair and his goatee.
Then you listen to boot Styx albums,so you can comment on Ricks bass playing or lack thereof.
Last but not least we got Chuck and on and on.............

You get yourself all worked up .
I get the feeling you are typing with your knuckels most of the time.

All the best.Weekend is just around the corner.

My Pal GR8Dane

Why oh why can't you just admit that Larry Gowan sings like he is freezing cold
All you have to do is go stand in the freezer and you can sing like Larry
Go out in below zero weather and just sing you can then sound like Gowan

There is no doubt that Dennis DeYoung is the voice of STYX
For this band to go on stage and let Larry your butt buddy sing Babe just goes to show how stupid they are.

Maybe they can sing about your wife someday
