Please record new music with JSS...

Postby lights1961 » Wed Oct 18, 2006 6:29 am

Is this something that the band is thinking about now??? Andrew, Deano, or even JSS it would be a great early xmas present... PLUS I think that would ROCK!! Especially if Journey is headling a UK tour for 2007 and the chemistry is there...even if the song would be available at the official site only....

Well, we already know they installed a studio on the bus around the time JSS came aboard.
JSS played coy about it (didn't want to give away too soon that he was permanent, I guess), but I bet they started collaborating instantly.
I have no doubt that not only do they have enough for a new album, but it is prolly the best thing the band has done since the 80's ( a lofty standard to be sure).

I agree, please do! What JSS & Schon wrote together for Soul Sirkus is amazing (LOVE that cd), I can only imagine how incredible new Journey stuff would be with JSS!

SS is fantastic.
Now just imagine how much better it would be with Cain's added touch of shmaltzy gooeyness or fairy gayness or whatever it is he adds.

Truthfully, Cain's input is invaluable and can only excel Neal and JSS's chemistry.
As Perry said, he is the "maestro".

Very true!! :)

My 5 year old son even loves the SS cd, lol. Hubby thinks it's cool too, but he's a huge Rush fan, so everything other than Rush is just "cool", lol.

I think with the reviews that Andrew gave of the weekend shows, there should be no doubt that Journey's new lead singer is JSS. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there is a new Journey CD by the spring considering how fast Neal and JSS wrote World Play. Time will tell though.

...Now if only all these 'insiders' and 'industry vets' that have been praising this newly found energy could get the guys a solid label deal to get them the publicity and distrobution they deserve...
They finally got a powerhouse again that can connect with all ages of fans...

A Journey/JSS album would be something I would buy in a NY minute! 8)

I am tempted to believe that we'll have it by next year.

SS is what scared me away from JSS as lead singer for Journey. I don't have any other JSS material, but SS didn't fit the bill for me. JSS is awesome in concert, and I am behid this new line up, but that could change if it sounds like SS2-ERIC

I haven't heard him yet, but by all accounts his voice has gone up a few notches since SS.

I wonder if they have any other songs in the can that sounded (at the time) too "Journeyish" for SS.....AKA Believe in Me.

I actually wasn't thrilled with the SS album. It wasn't as melodic as I like. Believe in Me is way more my style. But somethimng in-between, with Journey on the mind might be incredible....groundbreaking like the Escape album was in its day.

To be perfectly honest... I'm very afraid Journey is going to start sounding like SS and that is one of the big reasons I am not into this lineup... if Journey's next album has any voyeur lyrics or "swallowing loads", that will be the final nail in the coffin for me... and I'm scared it could really happen.

I think they would have to kick Jon out before it could get to that point, and that aint gonna happen...

Nope, not going to happen. Jeff has a bad hip from playing basketball. He has asked the band not to fracture the name he has helped to rebuild. He wants the band to sit on their collective asses for 20 years while he rehabilitates.

Good point. Journey and SS are two VERY different animals. SS tried to NOT sound like Journey. The next Journey album will be a melodic one for sure. I think it'll be more up tempo than the last few. Look for a few kick ass ballads. "If This Is The End" is a great example of why JSS will fit seamlessly into the Journey tradition. Good rockers and good ballads. Journey will sound NOTHING like SS.

..........................................

I doubt it. When Augeri was in good voice and the band put out new material, it just didn't have that Journey sound. If any "new stuff" has any merit, it might fly but it will be a different Journey and will have to stand on it's own and be accepted in concert to get the band noticed. Otherwise they will have to keep using the bulk of Classic Journey to relate to the Journey that the majority of the fans know and love.
