I love that song but I am so sick of hearing it on TV on every commercial break, especially during football games. It gets really annoying after awhile.

Welcome back, Matthew! How did the wedding go?

Cheers Dave! We had a great day - I never imagined getting married could be such a high. We've just got back from Sri Lanka - and reality is starting to kick in again - but so far so good!

Did you have a good Xmas/New Year?

Sri Lanka! Sounds like a helluva vacation. Glad it went well.

We had a low key but enjoyable holiday season. Unfortunately, now it is several months until we get another holiday off unless we take a vacation, I'm currently envious of anyone who gets some extended time off.

Yes it was Dave. Very beautiful country with AMAZING hotels and unspoiled beaches...but we were one of the very few Westerners visiting. Most embassies are strongly advising tourists not to go there....and the civil war, the tsunami and now terrorism has killed their tourist industry...for now though. But I'd highly recommend it....

Dave - you have to take a vacation! You make it sound like an extreme measure. :)

It is an extreme measure. I only get two weeks of vacation and we only have 7 holidays off during the year, the next not being until Memorial Day, which is at the end of May. Since both our families live out of town, that doesn't really leave any time to take to just go off by ourselves and enjoy some time off.

This is a pretty cool video of ELP rehearsing "Karn Evil 9" in the studio.

Ah...okay....Two weeks sounds harsh. Is that just your company - or is that the standard holiday time in the States, Dave?

Here's a video from ELP's mid-80s comeback...with Cozy Powell on drums...

I'd forgotten about John Secada until I heard a version of this one on holiday by a Sri Lankan covers band who were dressed up in ceremonial military uniforms. It wasn't the finest performance in the world but we got our lighters out anyway....

Just my company...We were previously owned by another company and I already had three weeks of vacation after only three years there. The company that purchased us gave us two weeks and cut our seniority time in half. I don't get a third week of vacation until I've been here for ten years now, which is substandard. Most companies give you a third week after 5 or, at the most, 8 years of service. I've probably still got 4 or 5 years to go for that even though, technically, I've been at this job for over 8 years now.
