New Info! Styx Tour 2007

Postby pickupstyx91 » Fri Mar 02, 2007 8:34 am

Ok, so other than Styx, my favorite band is Def Leppard. So I was on the Def Leppard Home Page and came across this:

2007 TOUR COMPANIONS (posted 03.01)

So, if Def Leppard is not hitting the road with KISS this year (see below), then who will they go out with? Although there is no official word that it will be the case for ALL dates on the 2007 tour, we can spill that the band is currently in the process of booking shows in the US and Canada with rock veterans Foreigner and Styx. That's all we can tell for the time being, but stay tuned: more details and show dates will be announced on DefLeppard.com as soon as they are confirmed

SEE FOR YOURSELF

I think i shat myself when i read that today. I have been dreaming of this tour for years. :D :D :D
I'm so confused by the things I read, I need the truth
But the truth is, I don't know who to believe....

Yes they will share the opening slot. This is funny because I thought I remember years ago the lead singer of Def Leppard ripping on Styx and their music.

The tour with Asia is still happening, this one with Def Leppard is later in the Summer.

Love Foreigner .... Styx needs to change the set ..... Hate Def Leppard, singer can't sing, they use backing tapes live and are the most overrated band ever ...... Pour Some Sugar On Me is dross.... i bet the lyrics to that took some thought eh

You got the peaches
I got the cream
Sweet to taste sacharine

blah blah blah

Do you take sugar one lump or two......blah blah blah crap crap crap

According to the Asia website there are just three dates in th eNJ/PA area.

Looks like its a Styx/ Foreigner supporting co-headling act tandem with a pickup headliner type of summer.

If Styx and Foregner both get 70 minutes and DL gets 90, I could handle that. Wouldn't necessarily be jumping up and down, but I could handle it. Problem was last time that the 70 minute set was actually 60 minutes.

But a 4 hour show between the three (including breaks) would be nice. Haven't seen DL before and been ages since I've seen Foreigner.

Sometimes a night out of 70's/80's rock is a good thing. I rarely go to a show thinking, "hell, they're playing that a step down or in a different key. Now that sucks..." If this is all I went to a concert for, how the hell could I enjoy the show.

After 1977, DDY would never have let Styx open for anybody...now there in the opening spot with 2 other bands - they get 50-60 minutes - max. How pathetic.

well, this isn't 1977, and there are a LOT of classic bands doing co-headlining tours. didn't journey open for DL last summer? the industry has changed, and the bands are doing what they need to do to have their music heard. I don't mind the double bills or tripple bills, if each band plays for 90 minutes. (70 minutes if i don't like the band....like REO) hehehehe

I'd love to see styx tour with DL. look how successful their tour w/ journey was last year. i'm sure it would get a lot of press, which is a good thing. :D

DL is only for a few shows later in the year. VH1 Classic will be sponsoring the Foriegner, Asia, Styx tour - with Styx being the headline act for the majority of the summer.
I agree - I have no interest in seeing DL. They are just one of those bands that were wayyyyy over exposed on the radio years ago - them and "I built this city" - sheesh - I still can't get that out of my head. To this day - when I hear the opening of any DL song - I change the channel - can't take it.

This one's for Rajah - should Styx open up with "Big Bottom"? :D

Maybe this tour will actually bring Styx to Edmonton for the first time since 2001. I will be there! To me, the interesting part about this tour, is that Def Leppard has been touring here without other big names, so it seems now that they need bigger opening acts to bolster their tour.
