OT: A Little RUSH PR

Postby NealIsGod » Thu Mar 22, 2007 10:02 am

Stole this from the front page. Interesting stuff about how many records they've sold.

A LITTLE RUSH PR:
Some of the press releases I get sent are laughable in their content and over the top overtures about the artist they are attempting to promote. I got another good one today, but in this case it's all true and I love the band, so over the PR people!
5 Things You May Not Know About Rush
1. The Canadian power trio have sold MORE records in the U.S. than The Police, The Who, The Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Kiss, Paul Simon, R.E.M....do I really need to go on here, people? (source RIAA.com)
2. Rush was named "Group of the Millennium" by the Harvard National Lampoon (and Harvard kids are WICKED smart).
3. Rush has 2 annual, international fan conventions (RushCon and EuCon). Highly doubtful we'll see BritneyCon or J-LoFest anytime soon.
4. ***The New Rush album Snakes + Arrows hits stores May 1ST!!!*** (#4 is always reserved for shameless promotion).
5. We conducted an empirically-extensive, painstakingly-performed, no-one-held-at-gunpoint poll, backed by science, reason, logic and one thunderous drumbeat, the result of which demonstrated without question or doubt that Rush Rules (...ah, you knew that one already).
Rush - Snakes + Arrows - Release Date May 1, 2007.
Go to www.rush.com to hear the new single Far Cry - or here via Windows Media: streamos.atlrec.com/wmedia/atlantic/rush/farcry/farycry_radio.wax.

Deano hates them too? Good...more ammo against that collection of shit bums. While I understand that Peart is great, nothing in the Rush catalog really stands out all that much as it pertains to his drumming. But I've seen some of his solos and they're jaw dropping...much like Smitty's.

Couldn't agree more. 3 bands whose popularity always had me shaking my head. Their music is pure shit. From Zep. I like "Trampled Under Foot" from Yes I like nothing...not 1 fuckin' song, and from Rush I like "The Temples Of Syrinx". Other than that, pure garbage.

You crack addicts need to get with the program. Yes, Geddy's voice is screechy, but come on - Limelight, Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions. I could go on and on listing great tracks. One of the most unique sounding bands out there. I got over Geddy's voice after I heard the great playing by the band. And you only like one Zep song! What DO you like besides Journey, Justin Timberlake?

I wouldn't go so far as saying Rush sucks. But it always pissed me off that they got more props than April Wine. April Wine is Canada's best

I like BA. I was talking more in terms of bands. Waking up the Neighbors was great...18 til I die was good...The next one he did the duet with a "Spice Girl" ughh. His latest is just okay... Room Service is a strong song.
April Wine had some great stuff in the 70's. Give a listen to "Don't Push Me Around". Didn't sell, but a great tune anyway

I was a causal fan of Rush, but after buying R 30, I'm looking forward to seeing them this summer. If you can get pass geddy's voice, they're pretty damn good. Pert is one of the best and Alex Lifeson is a good player.

My kid is really digging Alex's playing. He's looking forward to the show this summer.

Journey is my ATF, but they need to Improve their production. Since Neal is part owner of Nocturne, (or is he still?) why don't they have a better stage show?

I was in a cover band in the 80's and we actually did an April Wine song called Crash & Burn. I have an mp3 of us playing it if I could figure out how to share it.

Rush is one of my favorite bands. They have a very unique sound of their own. Geddy's voice is pretty shrilly at times but over all, they have put out some excellent music. Red Barchetta always makes me want to drive too fast, and tunes like The Spirit of Radio, Freewill and Limelight are great as well.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Shall I embarrass you publicly or privately? Being that you just called me out for poking fun (no pun intended), at Lou Gramm, I will call you out now.

Neal Schon himself has said this publicly, in fact before a show last year on the 30th yr tour. Nickel and Dime was ripped by Rush.

Andrew, please research before you make a tit of yourself
