I do think you are a hard-working, talented, and gracious professional and I wish you success.

BTW, your voice would be PERFECT for Van Halen. Something about the tonality of your voice would fit those songs...perhaps better than Journey. Were you ever approached by them?

Good, honest post. Van Halen is doomed as long as Eddie has ANY control and that seems certain to continue. Personally, I can't stand Eddie and love the implosion. They've always just been a mediocre band anyway. Probably at their best with Sammy. Stability is a beautiful thing.

JSS voice WILL be perfect fit on the new music... and its a perfect fit for the classics... the shows from last year with the first notes to Stone In Love won me over...... You have your opinion and thats okay. Classic line here ***is I dont follow the band like I used to**but he has to throw in 1 cent worth of opinon... QUESTION... if you have not seen the band live---hold your views until you see a show...and dont go by you tube it doesnt do him justice.. I know JSS can defend himself... Ahh, a traditionalist. I don't have any problem with that. The only thing I have a problem with is the thought of JSS not singing for Journey. He's a great fit in Journey in my opinion. He does the catalog justice dude. You need to see him or hear him with Journey this year. He's hit his stride and the band is sounding better than they have since Frontiers.
I have no beef with what you said, you are entitled to your opinion, but JSS going to Van Halen would not only be bad for Journey, but for JSS as well. He will have his brightest future with Journey. I feel very confident about that.

The first part of your statement is correct: AVH is nowhere near Peart, Palmer, Portnoy, Paice, Kirkpatrick, Zonder, etc., in terms of competence and skill. When Alex was in his prime, he and Nicko were probably about even, but that's open to debate. But Tommy Lee? Tommy can keep time, but that's about it. He's a four-on-the-floor guy, and has never wowed anybody with his drumming (that's why he resorted to the "flying drumkit" and other tricks). Heck, even Dokken's Mick Brown is a much more interesting drummer than Tommy Lee! Check out Dokken's new live CD From Conception–Live 1981 for proof.
