Yeah, I don't get that, either, except that people are probably just ignoring the verse lyrics and listening only to the chorus. I think American audiences are famous for that, hence the saying I heard on here somewhere recently, "Don't bore us, get to the chorus".

Aw, Moonie, do I havta explain every obscure reference to you?

John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band were an American rock band of the 1970s and 1980s, from Narragansett, Rhode Island. Originally known as simply Beaver Brown, the group (consisting of John Cafferty on vocals,Gary Grammolini on guitar, Patrick Lupo on bass, Kenny Jo Silva on drums, Bobby Cotoia on piano, and Michael Antunes on saxophone) initially established a popular following throughout Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

They achieved their greatest fame when they performed the music of a fictional band in the hit 1983 movie Eddie and the Cruisers. The film produced a Top 10 soundtrack album and a #7 hit single ("On the Dark Side"). The group's sound at this point was virtually cloned from the distinctive sound of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Indeed the arrangement of vocals, guitar, piano, and Michael Antunes' saxophone was so familiar that many casual listeners thought "On the Dark Side" was indeed the new Springsteen record.[citation needed] If you listen even closer, you can hear Neil Diamond's "Cherry Cherry" Harmony.

The "Heart's on Fire" track on the "Rocky IV" soundtrack was pretty good also.

Ok, for me;
Motley Crue- Bunch of assholes! Vince Neil could never sing worth a shit, and Tommy is an idiot of biblical proportions!

Creed- I'm sorry, they may be from here- but I can't stand them!

Rolling Stones ( AKA "Strolling Bones")- I like *a few* of their songs, but on the whole I just don't like them

( insert any punk band here)- I'm sorry- I like musicians that can acutally PLAY their instruments.
Not beat on them like they're trying to kill the things!

Dave Mathews band- Why? Why are these guys so big? I just don't get it!

This next one is probably gonna get me shot- but ELVIS. Once again, there are a couple of songs that are ok, but on the
whole I just don't like his stuff. I understand his "contribution" to music history- but that doesn't mean I have to like him
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, wine and chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "what a ride!"

I had to endure Kiss to see Aerosmith, Springsteen, the Who and most heavy metal bands. Guns & Roses ties with Kiss.

Their stuff prior to "The Final Countdown" is actually pretty good, in my opinion. Not quite so commercial, with more metal and progressive elements. I quite like "Wings of Tomorrow" and their self-titled debut.

You got that right.... their first two albums are anything but buttrock! Theyre heavy&melodic. I also like their 2004 reunion cd "Start from the dark"

Now, as far as the bands/musicians I love to hate, here goes:

U2, Elton John , Creed, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Rolling Stones , Nickelbacl, Styx, Pink Floyd , Survivor, The Pretenders , Rod Stewart, Dave Mathews band, Greatful Dead, Fleetwood Mac , Kiss, The Doors, The Who, Velvet Revolver , Phish , Bruce Springsteen (who made this loser The Boss!? ) , John Lennon, Clash , Oasis , Nirvana , Nine Inch Nails , Marilyn Manson , The Goo Goo Dolls, Blackeyed peas , Elvis , Beatles , Buckethead, anything rap and country and of course Journey
(Post Perry - Pre Soto ;) ) .

This cracked me up. Let me tell you why. First off, you should know I'm one of the biggest Survivor-heads over on the Survivor section of the board... I <3 Survivor.

Anyhow...

I remember them from when I was a teenager and I liked them then, but didn't own any of the albums. Flash forward a couple of decades and I was going through some CDs. My sister had given me a pile without cases and they were REALLY scratched up. They were actually going in the garbage and I only took them in the hopes some might rip to my hard drive with no problems.

One of the CDs in that pile was Survivor's Greatest Hits. My sister told me her friend, Bobbi, has a boyfriend who buys cars at auction and he resells them. This CD was on the floor of the backseat of one such car. It was scratched up to shit. It was GARBAGE.

I ripped it to my hard drive and I was HOOKED. Done like dinner. I have been amassing the discography ever since (legally, I might add, as I do believe in supporting artists I like LOL) and it's quite funny that someone else's drink coaster kind of changed my life and brought me back around to the music of my youth. HAHAHAHA

hate? that's a strong way to put it, but I don't care for the Dave Mathews band either. I don't get the appeal. EVERYTHING he does sounds the same. He's not much of an actor either.

Creed either. Scott Staff infection. YUCK! Dude get over yourself.

There's a lot of bands/groups etc. that I don't like the music of, but these two top it for me.
