In related news, Jack Blades confirms that Tommy Shaw has recovered from his recent voice problems and the Shaw/Blades tour will recommence again in Southern California this Wednesday night at AC's Lounge in San Jacinto.
Two of the cancelled dates have already been rescheduled - May 30, Akron, OH @ Tangiers and May 31, Chicago, IL @ Joe's.
And in news just to hand - Saturday's LA show at the Canyon Club (in Agoura Hills) will be filmed for a live DVD release!

Lastly, Shaw/Blades have been added to the bill of the May 13 Foreigner show in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay casino. The show will be filmed by VH1 for a live TV special (part of a live concert series the network is developing).

I gotta say... I'm really enjoying the new Shaw/Blades. I'll be posting a review of it soon. I'm just really, really liking it.

I gotta say...
I really enjoyed the old one too. It's one of Shaw's best releases in my opinion. I never get tired of it.

Well... yeah. Seven Deadly Zens is the best... but Shaw Blades first album is definitely a classic. Better than anything those guys did in Damn Yankees IMO

REALLY?? Wow, I feel that Dam Yankees was the best Tommy incarnation. I'd rather have him there than in Styx actually. I think the songs (on both albums) were much better than anything he'd done to that point. There was something about the vibe of that band that was just cool and funny. I'm NOT a Nugent fan in the least (kind of a psycho IMO) but he was great in that band AND Cartelonie's drumming was great as well. He's no Sucherman, but those songs just had a great feel to them.

Zens... I liked SOME of it, but the sound was funky to me and I didn't get all the little atmospheric things. I think most of it is really good though.

That's actually funny Froy.

Geez, who cares?? I mean so they do a couple covers albums. I'm not wild about 'em either, but I don't take it as an excuse to totally run the band (or Dennis) down. 10 on Broadway was actually the best solo work he did other than 3 cuts on Boomchild that were good. My opinion.

I felt DY was more bubblegum than substance. I mean don't get me wrong - there are some good rock songs on those albums - but lyrically it's really nothing beyond surface deep. But that was the nature of the beast then - just fun and rockin without all the meaning and I can appreciate it - but the song writing in Shaw Blades was 10 times better. Musically, the DY tunes were very good tho.

Seven Deadly Zens has among the best songs Shaw ever wrote lyrically.

I'd love to hear "I Will Be Your Witness" redone as a Shaw/Blades number.
