Um, newbie here...

...but after reading some of y'all's posts, I'm not sure I want to be here.

Is there a thread on this board that hasn't degenerated into name-calling, backstabbing, etc.? Just wondering. I just wanted to come talk about Styx (as you can see by my username, I'm a huge Tommy fan, but I have also had much respect for Dennis for years). Let me know if I can post here in peace, or if I should just leave and not come back.

To be honest - there probably isn't... but if you can't filter out the bad from the good and take things with a bit of a grain of salt - then you likely won't be very happy here. This board isn't for everyone and is a bit of an acquired taste once you get to know the personalities and people involved.

It doesn't help, however, to come here and complain about the nature of a board that you may or may not consider being a part of. Every board and forum has their share of these kinds of things... you just learn to filter out what you don't like and participate in what you do. Simple as that.

And you're right -- I'm only adding fuel to the fire by being snarky about the board, and I apologize. The thing is, there seems to be a lot of flaming going on, and I don't want to say the wrong thing and get burned. The other boards I post on (the one at Shaw/Blades.com, for instance) seem to be friendlier places. We can talk about Tommy and Dennis (and the other guys) without calling names or getting our feelings hurt. That's all I was really saying. Sorry if I offended.

If you have read the last dozen posts, then that is what it is like here. People of one camp or the other. If yuo can filter out the BS and get to know the characters in here and where they stand then this is a great place to be. THe regulars on this board are some of the most knowledgeable people about the band I know and collaboratively probably could write a book like Sterlings. We cover all incarnatons of the band and are both critical and supportive of both factions as they sit now.

A month ago it was more civil in here. Some newbies want to stoke the fire. It will pass and will return back to normal. But the sides are always polarized and at this point, nothing is going to change anyones mind in regards to the ramifications of the split.

You definitely need a thick skin in here. But if you can get use to it, its a great place to be.

Welcome MR Styx Newbies

For the past few years there has been some really great threads started on here. You don't have to take my advice, but I suggest that you or anyone on here to go back and read the past posts. You can reply to any of them, no matter how old they are.

It was fun to talk about concerts past and present, songs, about band members, funny band pictures (LOL), etc. etc. etc.

Don't worry about what you post, we all have our opinions and we should try to respect each other

I'm usually a hypocrite on that one, but that's okay, I can be - HAH! Just kidding! LOL

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll try not to take things too personally here (one way is to just ignore the hell out of Froy

). I'm kind of sensitive though, so I may get upset and say some things I don't mean. I just like for people to be happy and to get along. (Of course, some people are only happy when they're causing trouble...)

Nice to see you, Brandon! I love the Shaw/Blades forums. They're lots of fun. See you here and there!
