Falcon, I do not intentionally start rumors, I just have a lot of the friends in the business and talk to them every now in then, like I talk to Robin and Jamo on myspace. I am just a messenger, whether or not the message is true or not is not left up to me. Also, if I didn't post ihe info not many others would. How about you? Do you have anything to shate with us? I mean nothing personal, you are a great person and everything and I really enjoyed the show you posted (great gift) It just amazes me however that all of the oppurtunities the band has and everything, seems like they don't jump on it. I just hope the Rocky movie wasn't the last one. Anyhow, hope all had a good christmas and a great rockin' new year.

Something's queer as a 3 dollar bill with the whole band/movie situation./

I, for one, appreciate ALL the contributions of Survivorfan2005.

And yes, something is strange about the entire FS/Rocky drama. As usual FS won't comment to his fans and set the record straight, be it good, bad or ugly. However when JJ left the band, FS broke his neck to get the info out before the JJ camp. I wonder if FS and band owe Frontier much monies for Reach that all profits from Rocky would have gone to paying the record label back and not to the pockets of Survivor. I don't know how the industry works but that might be a good guess. NO RUMOR STARTING just PURE SPECULATION.

Yep, and we have to speculate, Lark because the band won't address it.

I enjoyed the show a lot...That's the type of hard roots rock and roll that I fell in love with Survivor in the first place...It's kind of strange, but it sure is a long way from the Haymakers days to "Is this Love".....which seems to be a trap most of those bands fell into back then....

I like those songs alot...a couple are some of my favorites but, that is a horrible mix of Survivor only 2 songs from before 1984!! lol. They had 4 albums before Jamison joined and only 2 songs in that bunch are from it.

FYI. not a good mix.

for one that is a good day or weekend job that pays quite well for a couple hours of work at a time. I'd for shizzel rather sing or play good rock music on stage for a few hundred or thousand people than do my work and I like what I do mostly.

They make pretty decent coin for a show last I heard (unconfirmed around 10k) or so for an hour and 15-20 min's plus encore or something like that. bigger gigs pay better smaller gigs don't. but, its still a nice way to make a living!

I think Frankie mentioned (and Robin on the website) about doing a brand new cd /album of new stuff with Rockin' Robin this year (2007) last fall/summer.

He seems very happy with Robin and the 2 get on great which with Jamo (not all his fault either) it certainly didn't or didn't enough to stay together.

Vibe and personality are important in a band dynamic as well as having a supreme boss or commander, too many cooks spoil the pot/dish every time! Look at chicago the band took them 15 fucking years to get a new cd done!! lol

I do not doubt the band will rock live, sound good ( Robin was better than okay when I saw him, he was overall quite good I give him a B grade) different for sure with Robin but good. I understand those who have ditched the group (same with Journey) too many singers yadda yadda. I don't share that opinion but i get it.

I look for the band to work alot this summer (alot for an older band) maybe 50 -60 dates?? something around there. And hopefully by summer or years end have some new tunes released on an album or on Itunes/ survivormusic.com for us.

I still love this band and the music they made and will hopefully still make.

"Fire Makes Steel was never intended to be in Rocky Balboa. "

I haven't been on here b4 today in a long time. I heard from many people in and out of the biz that FMS along with Reach was to be in Rocky 6 (Rocky Balboa).

Now, I don't know who started em but thats been all over the net and beyond for 6 months at least. I don't pretend to know the truth so, I ask you how do you know its just a rumor???
What Info do you have as the band NEVER posted anything on the matter on the official site.

Agree, Luk...
there was "official" speculation about the marriage of the new material and the new Rocky all over the place.
It had to come from SOMEwhere.
As Slander astutely pointed out, if it was never intended for the film why would Frankie post what he posted when the speculation about the great soundtrack possibility was at its peak that the song "Reach" has found a great new home that we will all love?

Hey, maybe the band really DID do all it could to bring the song to the producers'/Stallone's attention. Maybe like EyeOf said, Sly wanted to go old school with the movie and keep it to strictly score music.
The band should TELL us though, one way or the other.

To me it seems like a missed opportunity for the band, though, like they sat around with their thumbs up their asses like it was 1985 and Sly was hunting them down with a mandate to create Burning Heart.

I agree with you but, we can't outrightly blame the band or Frankie in particular. Many times even with such a one man dominated performance like a Rocky movie, there are executives and music sntk supervisors that say yeah, or nayyy to a song/band. It's a shady biz as most of the time they only put on there friends from what I hear but, I just wanted to add that the stars don't always have the huge input into the movie music.

Whomever did the sntk and the director im sure had a HUGE say in what made it in the film and sntk and what didn't.

before everyone throws Frankie under the bus I thought I'd add that.

Agreed but I'd love to hear either, "Hey we tried like hell to make it happen and the production company just didn't want it," or "we thought it would happen just by virtue of us having created new music and there being a new Rocky coming out. We thought us being on all subsequent Rocky soundtracks was a birthright that we didn't have to negotiate for and we were wrong."

Then I could accept it as the band being kiboshed or a missed opp.

But as it IS, Frankie's communique made it seem imminent and then *poof*

Just more one request: "nevertheless" is missing in this link.

Anyway thanks for posting this show. it's sad that Dave's voice was not great as before (too much touring during the 93-99 years?).
