The Journey HWOF Star

Postby *Laura » Mon Apr 23, 2007 5:45 am

Today I was looking through some pics that were taken at the HWOF induction back in 2005.Many regrets that I wasn't there...A once in a lifetime event...

On that day I was on the phone with a great friend from SoCal who was not in Hollywood but was listening to a live radio broadcast of the event.
It was surreal...The long distance call couldn't kill the emotion at all!
Then the same day I saw the first video (I think it's up on Youtube now) and then I got the audio with the speeches, and realized how truly happy everyone was, band and fans. 8)
Simply amazing.

Oh,I also remember seeing a pic with JSS that day...I don't have that pic,but I do recall him standing somewhere close to the podium. :)

I would love to know if any of you here were lucky to witness those moments in person..
Met any of the Journey guys past and present?
Talked to them,got something signed?

What is the most powerful memory that didn't fade away after 2 years?(even if you weren't there)

I got my dream come true to meet my hero since I was a little kid, Steve Perry.I shook his hand and thanked him for changing my life with his music, and inspiring me to become a singer myself.
He couldn't have been nicer, and more humble!!
The worst memory is being so sick from a stomach virus, that I couldn't attend the HOB show that night!

I also saw JSS there and managed to snap a photo of him, with the rest of the bands family and friends.
Didn't turn out very well though.
Ironic that he was there, looking back on it now.

I was blessed to be there that day with a group of best buds. I took a pic of Jeff standing beside Les, Neal's stepdad and friend, during the ceremony.

Les took a great pic of Ross & Neal (wonderful look of surprise & pleasure on Neal's face) while shaking hands with Perry..such a touching pic that has been around the net.

It was an awesome pleasure to briefly speak to Mr. P., only wish I could have captured a pic with him.

Such wonderful memories...

Neal should've received a citation from the fashion police. What a terrible choice of clothing for such a momentous day.

Yeah. It looked like Neal was the one that decided to go at the last minute and just showed up with that fashion choice. He should have worn a suit and tie. He looked out of place. I love it when men dress up. Perry looked great....should have worn a solid black tie, though. 8)

Agree about Neal's outfit. :? Funny how he wore an all-black outfit for the show at the HOB that night...Way more classy than he was at the ceremony.
But then who can understand a celebrity's mind when it comes to wardrobe choices?

My fashion expectations regarding V.I.P.'s have died a long time ago,the day when I saw Steven Spielberg giving this interview in a super-classy TV studio and his t-shirt had a big hole in it. :( Oh well.

Gorgeous picture Laura! Ross is looking mighty fine here. Ross really aged well.
Did Soto play with them at the House of Blues that night or was it a Journey only night?

Yes Shania, the 1st pic you posted is the one I was talking about..great pic! And the 2nd one you posted is excellent too..brings back such great memories.

As for the way Neal dressed..as someone said, who can understand a celebs mind. I suppose this just wasn't that big of a deal for him. I don't mean he wasn't pleased as he could be, anyone who saw him that day knew he was very happy and honored; but, this ceremony was on the side of the street and in a 'not so great' section of the street too..big difference from a fancy auditorium somewhere. Or then, maybe the airlines lost his luggage.

And steveforever, Jeff did not preform with them that night but he was with the families and friends behind the ropes for the ceremony.

Mmmmmm...I know you can't help yourself with these posts but if you look at that mug up close, Valory's countenance looks like a pencil holder.

As a matinee idol, he's a hell of a bassist.
