The word STYX will be on the front. There is no way he would sell anything if it isn't. He has never put out a record without a sticker on it with STYX in bold letters.

Yeah, Ash, your mom is pretty hot. I'm looking forward to it.

Do I know you? That kind of sarcasm is usually reserved for people with whom I have developed a level of rapport and a certain level of understanding. I do not believe you're in that category.

You act like I give a shit. I was here when your mommy was still wiping the cling-ons from your ass. I'll say what I want when I want. Your comments demonstrate the thought process of the average 6 year old with a temper tantrum. Your "come back" is pretty indicative of that.

When I want your opinion - I'll give it to you. Until that time, be quiet and let the grown ups do the talking.

Excuse me? Who the fuck are you? Believe me, asshole, if you met me mano-a-mano, you WOULD NOT have the balls to even look me in the eyes, let alone talk to me like that. I have no idea who you are or why you decided to start screwing with me, but believe me, your posts are memorable for lacking wit, insight, intelligence, or convincing arguments.

I mean, my post was merely the expression of a bengin opinion about projected sales of a Dennis DeYoung album! You sure are the man. You told me! Wow! I'm trembling in my boots as I write this, and I can only pray that you don't assault me with another barrage of verbage. Get back to your porn, Ashole.

"Asshole" has two s'es.. and "verbiage" needs an "i". I won't even bring up your mis-spelling of "intelligence" :) LOL

and here was what was in my private mail box

You're a tough guy, huh? I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I'll give you my number and address if you have something else you need to say to me, because unlike you, I don't need the protection of a computer network and a thousand miles to emasculate someone. Until then, I'm done with you, you worthless piece of shit.

You're humorous to the point of being a nutjob. It's people like you with no self control, sense of maturity - and a hairpin temper that make me glad this forum is the way it is - anonymous.

All of this, without provocation and without reason. So, at the very least, you're a hypocrite. What kind of "nutjob" says things like that to someone he doesn't know?

That was my point...you're shrouded by your anonymity, and it enables you to leave degrading messages on the general forum, and to a greater extent, rude and obnoxious messages in people's PM folder, without the worry of repurcussions. Before tonight, I barely knew you existed. For no reason at all, you decided to leave a nasty message that included a reference to "dating" my mother...tell me, little man, who was the first one to stoop to the humour level of a 6th grader? My response was merely a response to that, and was inherently paradoxical to your initial post.

Just for reference, you asshole, my mother has been stricken with breast cancer and will probably not live more than six months. You might want to consider the possibility of that type of situation before you decide to insult someone who has never once done or said anything to you.

You act as if that comment was to be meant

a) Literally
b) Personally

Neither of which was the case. Your posts indicate a level of irrationality that goes beyond even what some of the more "known quantities" on this forum are known for. You've been this way since you got here in my opinion. And while I haven't been able to be as big of a participant on this forum as I have in months past, I still read regularly. You even admitted and acknowledged the level of "sarcasm" in my original post - so don't act like I was intentionally making a full frontal assault on your family. Jesus.

And I would be very careful about making internet threats or offering your personal information online. It's just not a very safe thing to do. You never know who is on the other end of the line.

The only person who has been irrational is Froy, and we have all come to accept that. My response was sarcastic, and despite the fact that you opened a wound by bringing my mother into a degrading post, I just brushed it off with a casual response. It was YOUR response, very threatening in nature and very agressive, that actually managed to get me riled. I have developed friendships with a number of people on this board, and like them, my posts are usually interesting, thought-provoking, or (sometimes) funny. You were the one who decided to take it to the next level..."when I want your opinion, I'll ask for it...until that time, let the grown ups do the talking". Hmmm.

And let's see...I'm an English major who takes pride in his command of the language...but conveniently enough, my first-ever spelling and grammar errors seem to have manifested themselves in a PM...and I wonder, would you have had the motivation to alter that PM so as to possibly discredit me? I think it fits your profile (and by profile, I mean the "personality" profile that constitutes the timbre of your posts, not the lame one you're attempting to pass off).

BTW..."Ashole". That's your name, with -ole added to the end. Just for the personal touch that you seem to enjoy so much.

I've met Ash. He's actually a very nice guy.

Ash is right, its not one comment, its the overall tone of yor posts that he is responding to since yo started here.

He's been here a long time. Usually thought provoking and compassionate about Styx and Dennis.

He's taken a few months off, because everyone needs a break from here every now and then.

No one knew your mom had cancer. That wasn't the intent of what he said. I don't have to speak for Ash, but I would say that we all wish your mom well in her battle with it.

No one's gonna chase you away. But the overall tone of the personality you portray from all of your posts is what people respond to. Not just one specific post.

In this forum you just have to have a thick skin and ignore the bs. Pick and choose your battles.

Wow...it's a shame the rest of us have to wade through all the crap to get back on the subject, but I'll give it my best. For Dennis' album, record sells are going to depend on advertisement and if DeYoung actually puts out a pure rock album. Nothing experimental. I'm not sure why it would be difficult to believe that DeYoung's solo album could out sell BBT. But, if it does it does, if it doesn't, who cares? As long as he puts something out.

The overall tone of my posts? Give me a break. There are a TON of people who are more opinionated, outspoken, and controversial than me. If your reading has consisted of perusing Styx posts, you would understand that I simply don't understand why Froy and Yogi continue to portray Tommy as the anti-Christ. It just gets really old. I'm really in the middle of the road when it comes to that debate, but I'm certainly not the only one who disagrees with their opinions.

Meanwhile, if anything, I disengage on the Journey board (the only other one on which I regularly post), and tend to make quick, often bland observations that express opinions in a very open-minded manner, when the debates are over-wrought. Nonetheless, I can count ten people whose "overall tone" is much more confrontational than mine. Why I'm being singled out, I'm not sure. But it's only been you, Ash, and (obviously) Froy who have "responded" to me. Yogi, I have no problem with, because he's never gotten personal. I respect him completely. Froy began to attack me as soon as he found out I actually thought Tommy was talented and still is - speaking of unprovoked attacks...it got ridiculous. If anyone had the audacity to attack people the way he does, but was on "Tommy and JY's" side instead, they would get torn to shreds. That is a fact.

However, I do allow that I was quick to anger...although I think Ash went way overboard when I responded in the same vein in which he had attacked me. I've only made about 50 posts on this board, so to be able to draw conclusions about my personality or my values based upon the thoughts I have construed is quite a reach. Whether or not he's been here "a long time" is irrelevant. I've been an MR-X member for "a long time", and I've been supporting this site since 1998. I read the forums for years before I decided to join. The Journey board is much more active and explosive, but the Styx board is the most closed-minded of all the forums. At least people on the Journey boards are open to debates, discussions, and (generally) allowing others to have their say. My conclusion? If you're not "pro-Dennis" to the point of disowning Styx in its current incarnation, and you don't disparage Tommy and JY at every turn, you are bound to be ostracized, eventually, for any ideas you express that don't ultimately acquiesce to the "pro-Dennis" camp.

Thanks NH... Your check is in the mail :)

The last few weeks have been uber emotional for me anyway, and I've got a hairpin trigger myself of late, so thats why I've been avoiding coming here. Looks like I should have kept it going another day.

Oh well - this too shall pass.

I think Dennis album will sell pretty good in Canada. I honestly don't know about the US. The US is dominated by shit by American Idol and other poser acts - so - it's hard with that kind of signal-to-noise ratio for Dennis, Styx or any classic rock act to break through these days. It all depends if he has a "right song at the right time" moment like he did with Show Me The Way. Styx came close a few years back with "One With Everything" I believe. I still hear the intro to that song used on Sports Center/ESPN sometimes. (At least I think that's the song, I don't own Cyclorama)

Amazing. You certainly know how to gang up on someone...the Styx board should be shut down permanently.

I have received several PM's from people who support me completely, and don't understand why you (Ash) have been so over-the-top in your critiques and criticisms. However, they are afraid to post anything on the forum, because they're afraid they'll receive the same treatment. You Dennis-obsessed people are all the same; you're just like Perry loons, only more misdirected and much more mean-spirited.

You need to get off your soap boxes and get over yourselves - all I did was state that I didn't think Dennis' album would sell as well as Styx' next one, and look what I got in return. Unbelievable.

7 Wishes,

This board goes back and forth from being pro Dennis to Pro Current Lineup. Depends on who is posting at the time.

Some have dropped because of the one sidedness. But it certainly goes both ways.

Froy believes Dennis was screwed and that Styx was Dennis. Froy takes his abuse for it. Not recently, but trust me he has.

ChicagoStyx thinks Dennis wrecked what was Styx and stopped them from progressing.

No doubt, Ash is in Dennis' camp. But he has mellowed in his attacks.

Jodes, Zan, Abitaman, StyxCollector and myself try to play it somewhere in the middle.

StyxCollector and myself try to call it as we see it

Zan, Yogi, and Stmokeys are pro Glen

Yogi swaps sides, but is the boards comedian. Right now he is more pro Dennis

SuiteMadameBlue leans toward Dennis, but is pretty impartial overall.

Bugsy is pro-Dennis, but has become tired of the banter and only posts when she feels the urge.

We all agree we aren't going to change each others mind about how we feel about the band. Most of what is said here is a reaction to counterbalance what the other has said. Sometimes facts get in the way.

I think I got everyone, sorry if I missed anyone. I am sure if I am wrong about anyones position I will be corrected.

Anyway, Ash was originally responding to my wise crack - his attempt at humor. Your followup was in line with his quip. It probably should have stopped there.

Every board has to have newbies. ( Else they would never grow.) We have all been there.

That said, I think it behooves anyone who is new to a board to read a bit into the history and find out what is going on with some of the folks who post.

As to the original subject of this thread, there is no way to predict how well DDY's new CD will sell, but it will depend on so many factors -- record company promotion, TV appearances, a song catching on (which I highly doubt, but you never know), the interest of Dennis' and Styx' fanbase in the recording, and on and on.

I sure am making no predictions on this one.

If Dennis can get some high profile gigs on TV, as he has done in the past couple of years, he may be able to raise some interest in the CD that way.
