To this day I can't watch that video without simultaneously laughing and feeling horribly embarrassed for the band members. What in god's name WERE they thinking?

I still have questions. 1) Why would one of the biggest rock stars (at the time) think it was a good idea to wear a black and PINK shirt? (I am throwing out "come on, it was the 80s" as an excuse - I let him get away with haircut skating on that excuse, so no mulligans). 2) How come a guy who who can play the piano so well can't mimic the movements accurately without the instrument? 3) Why was Harry Shearer standing in for Steve Smith? Was Smith sick that day?

BUT - it's still a decidedly better video than Chain Reaction or After The Fall. I think that maybe Journey just wasn't meant to make videos. Or maybe it's just Perry? If that Foolish Heart video is any indication of anything...

While it is a great song and the guys look sharp as hell in their tuxes, who the hell decided to use a mannequin instead of a real person? :? Neal going in for a mannequin kiss, in slo motion yet was just too much for me. Didn't find After the Fall quite as bad, but then again I was probably distracted by the emotion in Perry's face when he sang that song. :P Could have done without that little jig at the end though.

Actually...the air-instrument theme did continue in the "Oh Sherrie" video when Perry grabs the broom off Dewey from America and plays air-guitar with it. So maybe, just maybe Perry is to blame.

Come on Matty, I luv Perry as much as anybody, but you have to admit he was a much better dancer when he wasn't moving too fast. He's like 90 percent of the guys out there.....sexy at normal speed, but there is a line between sexy and dorky. Sorry but JSS is one up on Perry in that department.

So THAT'S why I didn't score with the chicks when I tried to copy the little jig at the school disco...

Perry's "Jig"?
Are we talkin' about his "Mic-Cord Shuffle"???
If so, fuck being 'sexy'!
That Mic-Cord Shuffle was pure Perry-Bad-Ass!
Come on, tell me that you didn't get goose bumps
the first time you saw the video for WYLAW back in '96 when,
after waiting 10 years, you saw Perry, Black tails and all, rip
into that shuffle when Neals solo kicked in?!?!?
Call me crazy but I sure in the hell did!

LOL can just picture it.

Lesson 1: It's all in the hips and shoulders. You get those mastered the chicks'll flock to you. LMAO, it's when you get the arms and/or legs flaying around that it gets dorky.

I think they're talking about that silly jig at the end of the After The Fall video. Completely different from the sexy Perry spin. It gave me chills to see that in the WYLAW video too. :D

No it wasn't, the ATF one looked more like a irish jig tap dance type thing. The Perry spin in the WYLAW vid is more majestic/regal.

 Come on,that was such a visual metaphor! The guys have always based their work on their personal experiences,so I bet the mannequin was a hint to those "plastic" babes that ruined their wallets during the 80s! No wonder Neal was chosen to kiss the doll!LOL!

For me the worst part of Chain Reaction was when Steve pushed Neal...The way Neal fell... He was such a lazy actor...

Fuck yea, Perry doing The Mic-Cord Shuffle in the Black Tails
and Leopard-print Tee in the Houston DVD = FUCKING SUPERMAN!!!

Wait a minute...
You think Perry's mysterious Hip ailment may have
actually stemmed from him 'practicing' this vintage
move whil getting in shape for the aborted TBF tour???
