Since when does RTP --> BNW count as "most?"

Look at the original Paradise theatre tour. And the Grand Decathalon tour.

PT Tour: A couple of acoustic tunes in Japan, but that's it.
GD Tour: Zilch, at least on the shows I've heard.

Even if you grant the handful of Japanese shows and the one -- occasionally two -- songs from the EOTC tour (and I wouldn't) it hardly points to a long-running tradition of Styx having an acoustic set in their shows. They didn't even play "Boat On The River" as a regular part of US shows until 96.

Stabbim's right. Styx has no rich history of doing an acoustic set - and I mean a formal one. Doing "All In A Day's Work" is one song - vastly different than what they did with the Evening With ... shows. The most you usually got was Tommy's acoustic solo (same one he's been donig since 1978 at some shows).

I like Gowan. He just sucks singing certain Styx songs.

Where can one find the boots of gowan singing babe/best of times/queen of spades??????

Anyone? I am also wondering...

Try www.guitars101.com and look in the Bootleg forum. You might find it there. YOu will also find many other boots of other performers.

There are probably other sites but I am not aware of them.

Thanks

I heard the boots of Lawrence on Babe and stuff, eh...

Its different. IMO I think that Everything is Cool would be helluva lot better than Desert Moon.

Desert Moon at a Styx show? You can't be serious. Some of your choices are outright ridiculous. No one wants to hear an Acoustic set, no one wants to hear Haven't We Been Here Before or Babe or Show Me The Way or a full version of Mr. Roboto or Don't Let It End. Way too many slow songs here for a ROCK show. You play 3 hrs, you want to hear some GOOD rare stuff, not sappy love songs or songs they have played in the past 20 yrs.

Hey idiot.. you are a complete tool. Those are the biggest fucking hits. If you also noticed, I included High Enough which yes isn't a Styx song either. But its Tommy's biggest song outside of Styx and Desert Moon is Dennis's biggest song outside of Styx. If you are looking for a retrospective then you include those songs. Fans want to hear the hits and those are the hits moron. The average fan doesn't want to here Shooz or any of that crap.

And if you knew your Styx history, you would know that they did an acoustic set on most of their tours.

While I wouldn't have chosen the language you chose to make your point, I do think that if you really wanted to have a complete concert of Styx, that you would put in one or two cursory songs from the solo years. I've seen Journey with Perry in 1986 and they did Oh Sherrie, and I've seen Genesis do a Phil Collins solo song too. Its part of their history and I would love to hear Shaw and DeYoung harmonize on High Enough and also think Desert Moon would be a good addition.. (not so sure about Haven't We Been Here Before). How about an updated medley?

Heyyyy, it's the "sweeping generalities" guy again! Again... how can you claim "no one wants to hear..." this that or the other thing? Have you really been appointed by the masses to speak for us all? Heck, even if I'm the ONLY one who disagrees, I guess ya can't say "no one" anymore, can ya? And why is it you balk at "Desert Moon" at a Styx show? Because it's not a Styx song? Because it's a ballad? I noticed you didn't have any adverse feelings about "High Enough," so what's the excuse there?
Do you actually have to call someone else's preferences to hear Mr. Roboto or anything else "ridiculous" simply beacuse they are not YOUR choices? Hitler? Do ya?

Some of us are Styx fans, not just selective-Styx fans...

OMG...you are too funny. You need to seriously lighten up. Are you this serious all the time?

By the time they finished your set list the nursing home doors would be locked and they all would have to sleep on the street.

Shorten your list down to lets say......................................................

a 4 hour show.

If I kept score correctly you had 31 full songs plus two medleys.

During their first intermission Jeb Bush became President.

26 full songs and 3 medleys. I suppose I could take a few off but Rush's total show runs about 3h 15m and I think this could be close.

I liked more of it than I disliked, and thought the tunes they played in concert came across very well.

So I guess that makes at least two of us who would want to hear EiC...

I like LordofdaRing's setlist. However, I would suggest to Deep 6 Larry. He's not needed.
Let him be the opening act.

Then just add Castle Walls and Love in the Midnight and it would be a great set.

How does Rush get away with playing 3h 15m shows? Last tour they played about 24-25 full songs, 2 medleys (a good 10-12m each) and a drum solo. A few of these songs go at least 8-10m. I was basing my setlist on this.

Because they have a large fanbase that still comes out and they sell out large venues. That's how. Rush has done the whole evening with type shows exclusively -with no opener since the Test for Echo tour (1996/1997).

Styx or DDY? Neither is close. They only way they do these large venues is part of a package tour a la Def Leppard.

It's just the way it is.

I understand Rush having a large fanbase and therefore being able to do what they do and I understand Styx in the real world not being able to do this. What I was responding to was someone stating that I was crazy to have a setlist that I think would go about the same amount of time as a Rush show.

Maybe the unions from Canada are a little more lax with the times. I have always heard that the unions and roadies have a lot to say about the lengths of the show. The fact that they have to tear it all down, drive to the next city and put it all back up, I really don't know how they do it.
