Schon needs to come up with something new. Red 13 and Generations were perfect examples of him playing "filler' solos. Great solos indeed, just didn't go with the songs being played. He's lost his ability to "interact" with the singer.
Red 13 was experimental,IMO...Not an usual Journey product,so no wonder it wasn't fan-friendly.Generations was an experiment too,a rushed one,if you will...Has
some good moments,tho.
As for Neal's playing on those, well, when you don't really believe in what you're doing...The "interaction" with the singer falls in the same category.
He didn't "feel" the voice anymore.Nuff said.
Castronovo "such a talent?" Based on what? Being a cover singer? Or is it the mediocre (at best) job he's done as an original drummer for Journey? He couldn't carry Smitty's sticks (not many can in all fairness). There are hundreds of drummers that could have done the job he has for Journey. He's just not good for THIS band as far as drumming goes.
You kidding, right?Castronovo is not a cover singer. He was asked to sing some of the Journey classics because he CAN,and I might add,he's done a hell of a job.For me DC is one of the best drummers in the world and it was the best choice for Journey.Mediocre was Baird in 1987.
Come on,leave Smitty out,we are not comparing them.

Smitty helped
building Journey,Castro helped keeping the machinery running.
Cain....good old Friga. I'd defer this question to Steve Perry. I'm sure he could sum it up. Face it, Friga has been artistically paralyzed for over 20 years. Not to mention he's as trustworthy as a scorpion. You fired the only person who ever made you relevant, Jon. Now, you're reduced to gloating about having a #1 hit on some Adult Contemporary chart....which has a listening audience of 17. Good job. Prideless asshole. That'll always be a Perry song, as it pertains to vocals.
Cain's paralysis must be a result of losing his Muse, like I said.I doubt he will ever be able to artistically bond with someone as he did with Perry. They produced magic together.
Seriously,I don't blame him for "drying" up.Also,I'm not mad that he took "Faithfully" and re-arranged it,it was his right.
The fact that the new version is not liked by fans, comes to prove what we both believe:that will always be Perry's song.Any attempt of changing that is useless, but if Cain wanted to do it,like I said,it was his right.
A "scorpion"?Perhaps he is trying to defend himself or what he believes in.He must have serious reasons to "sting".
In summation Laura, I'm NOT bored. I want Perry back or it's time to close shop. If I were 100% sure they'd give Jeff a fair shot, I'd be behind them all the way. That is NOT going to happen though. Just another ploy by Azoff to keep the fans interested in the event he ever gets his dream reunion. Completely unfair to Jeff and I hope he uses this opportunity SOLELY to gain new fans and then leaves Journey in the dust. They would do the same.
Jeff was really brave in taking this job in Journey. It was also his dream and he fulfilled it.
If the dream is going to end before it should,Jeff will certainly have a career ahead of him.He was a great singer before Journey and he will be the same after Journey.
The ones who would have the real problem would be the Band.
If Azoff dreams about a reunion, like you say, then he's dreaming about the $$$$$.
This reunion will never happen because Azoff wants it,but because ..well,this time it's up to Mr.Perry.

(sorry,couldn't help it)
The "fire and emotion" with JSS is TBA.
"TBA"? Sorry,SJ...What's that?
