OT: Anyone going to see Asia in Philly tomorrow?

Postby AR » Fri Jun 22, 2007 10:12 am

I'm going to see the original lineup of Asia tomorrow (Wetton, Downes, Palmer, Howe) at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA (near Philly). If anyone on this board happens to be going let me know. I'll be the drunk guy in The Annex t-shirt.

Not going but I'd love to hear how they do. I used to really like them back in the day.

Won't be there, but I am going to try to get over to Trump Marina to see them in the Grand Cayman
ballroom on Saturday. New studio album in the works? Friggin awesome!

The debut Asia album is still one of my top 20 albums of all time. Unfortunately, none of the rest of their catalogue reallly lives up to it, though I do also quite like the "Aqua" album, mostly because Al Pitrelli played on that one.

Petrelli also played on "Aria," which IMO is even stronger than "Aqua."

Going to see them in Chicago in a couple weeks, complete with Steve Howe's propped up corpse. Seriously, if there was ever a reason to stop being a vegetarian and eat a goddamn steak, it's Steve Howe...he looks worse than Keith Richards, cause he hasn't eaten a cheeseburger since the 70's.

Still, excited to see Wetton, although I wish they'd stop butchering "Roundabout" and play one of Wetton's solo tunes instead.

Wasn't aware of that. I'll have to check it out. I'm mostly only familiar with his playing in Savatage.

Yeah, he looks older than God and has for several years now. I know strangegrey disagrees with me but he his a fantastic player, especially on acoustic.
