He has been with the band since 96. He was in the middle of the battle between the three key principles and knows quite a bit about what the issues were within the band when Dennis was ousted as well as how Dennis was to work with. True he wasn't there in 76, but he has played with all principles of the band and knows a lot more than you or I or anyone else guesses were the issues that were the last straw.

Only if Doc Brown shows up and whisks them all back 1981. Which has about as much chance of happening.

No shit Sherlock.... but why does he feel the need to take shots?
He's extremely lucky that John Panozzo died or God knows what he'd be doing.

Yeah, I know they sound better with Dennis in the Band!!

That's just the way it is for most of the classic rock bands. Except for the select few bands who the Elite in charge seem to like.
And yes, I guess I'm dellusional because I think a properly advertised Dennis Led Styx would DRAMATIALLY outsell a Larry Led Styx.
But if the current band is happy, then more power to them. And I do still enjoy seeing Tommy and JY together on stage. I just am NOT going to go see them open-up for Def Leppard and play 7 songs. That blows. This is a band that was HUGE and deserves better than that. And I like Todd better when he shuts up and plays the drums.

Who says this is a Larry led Styx. It is definitely a Tommy led Styx. Larry is clearly support that sings a few of the songs.
cittadeeno23 wrote:I did not mean Larry was the leader of Styx! I shouldn't have worded it that way.
I meant to say that a Styx concert promoting Dennis in the band would DRAMATICALLY outsell a Styx concert promoting Larry in the band.
Now, I guess we may all have different interpretations of what Dramatic is!
Either way, I want more than 7 songs!!
cittadeeno23 wrote:They have played at the Mt. Winery up here in N. California several years in a row now since Dennis was kicked out. At least the last 5 years.
It is a small place that holds about 1-2K people. Maybe more, but it's pretty small. But It's really cool because no matter where you sit you are close to the band. And they get to headline and they play a full set of about 2 hours.
I understand why they want to get out in front of a big Def Leppard audience, but this is the first year that they are not coming to the Winery. And I don't want to see them as just an opening act with 7 songs!! So I really hope they eventually come back here, or at least somewhere close where they get to headline.
And Dennis hasn't come anywhere near N. California since 2004. I had to go to New Jersey to see him last year.
SO I get absolutely no Styx or Dennis concerts this year.

Did Larry write epic songs like Castle Walls, I'm OK, Born For Adventure, The Grand Illusion and Queen of Spades?
The answers to those questions are: NO, Dennis Did!

cittadeeno23 wrote:Wow, Did I finally hit a nerve??!!
cittadeeno23 wrote:I can like both Dennis and The Tommy/JY band and still vent a little!

In California, you need to live in Los Angeles to be guaranteed to see Styx or Dennis.
I suppose for you it must be New York.
Los Angeles is a 7 hour drive for me. Dennis' only west coast appearance was in San Diego, and that is about 8 hours!
I suppose I could have flown down, but when you lose half your cash in a divorce, money becomes an issue!!
We shall see. Maybe Styx will add to their schedule. I doubt that Dennis will.

Compared to the version of the band that put out Cornerstone, he is.
That would be the only Styx album to ever receive a Grammy nomination...
Yeah it was horrible.
Do you like every record that is nominated for a Grammy?
Every Styx cd I do.
My point being..just because it was nominated for a Grammy does not make it a great or good record. Popularity=quality? I think not.
I don't think you understand Grammy awards. Grammy's aren't about popularity or you would have the biggest selling albums always winnng grammy's - that isn't the case. In fact, there have been many album that did not garner lots of sales but still won Grammy award.

I stand corrected. You are right it is not a popularity contest but does Grammy nomination=quality? Milli Vanilli won a Grammy...i think that says quite a bit. This is from Wikipedia.....The winners, critics argue, would naturally reflect "the social, political and artistic preferences of the nominating and voting members." So in other words, a joke like most awards.
For me, Cornerstone along with Edge of the Century were the most disappointing first listens of any studio records from Styx.
