Dennis Live In Massapequa, NY 7/7/07

He did not make one mention of the 30th anniversary of GI. Show was good, the band is tight. A few thousand in attendance due to the show being free admission. Here is a link to the opening. Sorry, not the greatest of quality, I used my dig. camera.

Great video! And the other two were great.

People at those concerts drive me crazy, they just sit there when their is an intro, they don't seem to care!! Pisses me off, i felt like i was the only standing and cheering and singing when i saw him last summer!! Sheesh!

It was a weird crowd, a lot of senior citizens near me, I don't think the concert was what they expected, several left after the second song. There was point when Dennis asked how many in the crowd was seeing him for the first time and it seemed like 80% of the crowd put their hands up.

I thought the show was fantastic, Dennis sounded great, The guitarist ( Tom something?) was incredible. Great solo at the end of Desert Moon.

I wish Glen had more involvement, It would have been cool for him to be in the acapella version of Show me the Way.

The kids loved the concert ( age 6 and 9), they went nuts for Mr. Roboto, and I got a cool Roboto key chain :-)

100 years from Now sounded so much better without Froggy.

I was so happy to finally hear Castle Walls live. It's always been one of my favorites.

We had to leave during Best Of Times, does anyone know what he played after that? I'm assumming Come Sail Away.

Castle Walls was a highlight for me when I saw him, for sure. Of course, this was before he recruited Glen, so I'm sure it's only gotten better since that time. Glad you enjoyed the show.

I'm a bit spoiled up here, anything other than the Montreal crowd seems boring. Even in my hometown of Halifax, when I flew in to see them in June, were too quiet.

Tommy Dziallo. He gets a great solo at end of that song.

It's REALLY cool live, isn't it? In Montreal, at least, Hank goes to another part of the stage from the back so when the song starts, he's not where you expect him to be so you wind up looking all over the place to see where the bass is coming from.

On a side note, John Gatto from the original Good Rats was there enjoying the show. The Rats opened for Styx back in 78 or 79 at the Nassau Coliseum....

sorry to digress for a moment, but I have to mention this. After the show, driving home with my Wife and in-laws (ugh)
they all mentioned how they loved the show but the topic of Dennis' hair came up. They all thought he was wearing a rug, and a bad one at that. I honestly never noticed it nor do I ever remember old pics showing his hair thinning. Is this true and do I need new glasses?

Yes, his hair is thinning. Sometimes you can see "through" his hair to his head if you look closely. This was taken June 13th in Halifax:

Something funny I've noticed, maybe I'm not the only one...

Styx was never a "handsome" band, but they weren't Motorhead ugly either - all were very attractive people - with one pretty poster boy. What I have noticed lately however, is that classic rock bands, for the most part, that are out touring are SCARY ugly, and Styx looks like a band of Prince Charmings by comparison. Even Dennis and his entourage. I guess I'm saying they've held up well.

I still think I have to move to Chicago .... Sigh.

on a side note, yes i know john personally, although haven't seen him in a very long time. i'm sorry i missed the show, it would've been great catching up!

i've been surfing around myspace hoping to find him one day. that's how i stumbled upon the goodrats page. (the NEW goodrats.. pepi and kids)

Not really. Check out the Tokyo 1982 video - DDY is already showing grey in his sideburns and basically had the haircut he sported on Roboto. He's basically kept that hairstyle since 1982/3.

Now, if you're talking the DDY of Paradise Theater and earlier, yes the hair is different. But DDY's hair (except for some coloring a la 1996) has been the same now for over 20 years IMHO

Was that with Styx & Angel on March 02, 1979?

i'm not sure of the date, but i do know the rats opened for styx sometime in the late 70s. sorry- wish i could help.
