Four words: John Kolodner : John Kolodner

Wasn't he the one who put together the touring band?

I don't know about that but he did bring in John Sykes and Cozy Powell originally.

NMT - acccording to this site Kalodner wasn't the guy to blame for the departure of Sykes:

http://www.john-sykes.info/biog_2.html

"The famous A&R man John Kalodner, who oversaw the release of 1987 describes Sykes and Coverdale as a dream team, and like many fans, Kalodner still harbours a wish to see the two men record and play together once more."

No idea how reliable this is though...

Yes, that is from "Starkers in Tokyo" from '97. Great stuff. Coverdale has long been one of my favorite singers and he gets panned as being a Robert Plant clone, but his voice is much fuller than Plant's ever was.

Here's another good one from that show...

Just for fun, a mashup of Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams and White Stripes' Seven Nation Army. The White Stripes is the only young music I listen to right now, just bought their new CD, Icky Thump. And I've always loved Annie Lennox.

Damn, new music? What is that? I pretty much listen to what's on my iPod exclusively. If that makes me out of touch, which I am, then oh well. I've got 20 gig of stuff I love on it. It's the ultimate jukebox. ;)
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

My music rubs off on my kids, and some of theirs rubs off on me. :)

On the unplugged theme...here's Adrian Vandenberg in 2004 with his old band. The singer Bert Heerink isn't in Coverdale's league but he's still got a great voice. I can't believe this guy never really made a name for himself back in the 80s....

I didn't mean to imply that JDK ran Sykes off, I know that was a DC thing, but I thought I read at the time that JDK recruited the band that appeared in the video and on tour.
Looking forward to hearing some of the WS/DP-related stuff you guys have posted.
