DDY in Milwaukee

Just got back in a bit ago from the drive to Milwaukee (I'm south of Chicago)... great show, fabtastic performance, etc. This is the first time I got to see Glen perform with Dennis solo, so that was cool. My only complaint is... I believe this was billed as a "Lost Treasures" show, and none of the lost treasure setlist additions were played. It was a hits show plus just 2 of his new songs (as opposed to 3, which others have reported hearing). Like I said, great performance, but nothing really I haven't seen him perform several times besides the 2 new ones. Where was Unfinished Song and Pieces of Eight or Borrowed Time, etc? Or All For Love, since Glen was there? Anyone know why the format of the show was changed from how it was advertised?

Lost Treasures today really refers to songs that Styx won't touch anymore. The meaning of the Lost Treasures phrase has evolved over time.

You are correct
Wrong billing
But man a great show
Dennis has his fight back in him
Just look at him he was on fire
The keyboard player was great
The sounds of Castle Walls blew me away
Prelude 12 was also a nice one
The crowd singing sail away was magic

I agree, Froy. I was disappointed that I didn't hear a few of the songs that I thought I would... but I can't knock the performance. It was well worth the two and a half hour drive to get there... and I went with a friend of mine from Tennessee who traveled up here to see the show, too.

It may seem like an odd thing to comment on, but I was also happy to see Dennis in jeans and a leather jacket rather than a suit for a change. Not that there's anything wrong with "classy..." but let's hear it for looking comfortable and just a tad more rockin'. LOL

As far as the Lost Treasures shows go, the first one at the HOB in Chicago was the best one, and the first two NJ shows with Glen are a close second. Everything else isn't so much LT anymore - "Castle Walls" has basically been in the set since 2002. With Glen, you get "Edge of the Century". The rest now is pretty much hits and stuff from the new album, as evidenced by tonight's setlist and the one I saw in Montreal.

Heck, the orchestra shows in Chicago and Milwaukee in 2001 and 2002 were more LT shows in spirit than the shows that are billed as LT today.

I personally want to see more shows like the 1st ones with Glen and the Chicago HOB one if it's a LT show.

And yes Suite, I know you're still waiting for that Chicago review lol

I agree with ya, Allan. I wish he would do a few more like the did at HOB or, when he is playing with Glen, something like "All in a Day's Work".

I REALLY loved "Best Thing" the couple of times I saw him perform it, but it seems to be gone.

Maybe they should just drop the whole "Lost Treasures" designation. I don't much think it is needed anymore anyway.

Bugsy
Change your hairdo. Change your name.
Congratulations! You're still the same.

We got there during the previous show (the Italian guy that actually covered a Weird Al Yankovic song...), and hung out til he was gone, planning to snatch some close seats... But when people started clearing out, we were comfortable where we were at. LOL If you were looking at the stage, we were on the bleachers to the left. We were one row up, so had a slight elevation above all the heads, but were still really close to the stage. And the wood benches were a little more comfortable than the metal ones. So, we stayed put there. It was a really good view... we were happy with it. :) I did miss the fight though... we left right away to go see the fireworks...
