My guess: divorce, alimony, child support, drugs, blowing money on high-priced toys & not saving for a rainy day. But not all apply to Friga, Fro & Rossty Nail.

garysings wrote:WHy is Steve so pissed at neal, and vice versa that they cant even speak to each other? They needed to work but steve didnt why?

My guess on the 1st one: Neal is pissed at Steve for not going on tour for TBF & not being willing to work w/them. He's never had the same success since. He never liked Perry but he knew he was his meal ticket. I suspect Neal was a shithead to Perry all along. I'm sure things were said that could never be taken back on both sides. Perry got pissed when he showed up at the WOF & Neal used it as a means to sell tix. At this point there's no going back.

Sus, I just realized u missed a bit that could be good. I've inserted it below in red. Edit away!

Empty bank account, empty hearts,

And I can see them
singers in line around the block
Jon’s got his hair combed back
wears his hairdresser’s smock, baby

I can tell you
my love for them is no longer strong
after the bastards of summer have gone.

I never will forget those nights
I wonder if it was a dream
Remember how I made fans crazy
Remember how I made them scream

Now I don't understand
What happened to that band
But boys I'm gonna get you back
I'm gonna show you what I'm made of

I can see you
Your fro curling in the rain
I see your botox face moving real slow
Fake halfsmiling at everyone
I can tell you my love for you's no longer strong
After the bastards of summer are gone

out on the road today
I saw a Friga/Fro sticker on a cadillac
a voice inside my head said don't look back
you can never look back

I thought I knew what love was
what did I know
those days lasted but a minute
I should just let them go and...

I can see them
shattering the stone
you know the Journey’s over And I’m better off alone
I can tell you
my career will still go on
after the bastards of summer have gone.

I found the lyrics Nora wrote for "Lame Reaction". Hope she wont mind me reposting them. It's a classic:

"Lame Reaction" (to the tune of "Chain Reaction")

I bet you, Neal's the one
'Cause now his, Band is DONE
Those changes
He puts you through
Down 3 Singers?
Oh Man, they're SCREWED!

I bet you, Frig likes to say
"Make phone calls? Not me; NO WAY!"
He's not sure
If the Band is done:
But, Steve Perry sang "Lights";
From Journey, he runs....

Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
They won't surrender, or lose control

So now it's, not a mystery
Jeff Soto is
Their latest casualty
They mumble, "You'll take the fall
Just like the last time
But, maybe we'll call..."

In motion, it's on its way
Neal wants The Spotlight;
Somebody's got to pay!!
Those changes
He puts you through
Down 3 Singers?
Oh Man, they're SCREWED!

Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
They won't surrender, or lose control

Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
Jon's "The Friga"
And Neal's "The Fro"

So now just where will they go?
Tell me where

Down down
down down down down down down down down down
DOWN!!
DOWN!!
DOWN!!!!!

Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
They won't surrender, or lose control

Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
Jon's "The Friga"
And Neal's "The Fro"

Anyone know SP or JSS's number? I need to get me some writing buddies. Those royalties will come in handy.

Oh my, my sides hurt from laughing!

What a classic rendition!

Now we have two Journey songs "rewritten", ten more and our "tribute" album is ready!

I'm going to try and think of one, but I don't think I'm anywhere near as creative.

Here's another silly one. Its not that good, but it's after midnight here and I'm getting a bit sleepy.....

Its called 'Purple Shirt' and sung to the tune of Open Arms. :D

Standing beside you, here on the stage
Smelling the sweat from your purple shirt
You never change it, its on every day
How could be so unclean?
We perform together
We try to keep away
But you keep coming to stand by our side

So now you come to me, with smelly ‘pits
Stinking away, believe what I say
There you are with your smelly ‘pits
Hoping you’ll see what deodorant means to me
Smelly armpits

Neal you bug me, you piss me off
Your methods always seems so cold
Wanting to shake you, want you to hear
How sick I am of that shirt

But now that you’ve changed it
And showered and shaved
Its ok you can stay.

Another song for the album, "Send Them To Hell"

It's been so long
Since they had The Voice
He says he's doin fine
We still recall
Those sorry asses

How it hurt so bad, it made us cry
He really had to say goodbye

Send them to hell, memories remain
Send them to hell, The Voice ain't coming back
Send them to hell

The same old songs, the dirty dozen
They'll be on the road again
They're gonna do more shows
But us fans won't pay

You see, The Voice will not pretend
His broken heart will never mend

Send them to hell, memories remain
Send them to hell, The Voice ain't coming back
Send them to hell

Callin' out his name they're dreamin
Reflections of the dollars they're seeing
It's his Voice
That keeps on haunting them

Send them to hell, memories remain
Send them to hell, The Voice ain't coming back
Send them to hell

Send them, send them to hell
The Voice ain't coming back
Memories remain
Send them, send them to hell

F'N A EXACTLY! DAMN! He has a right to live his life any way he wants to. PERIOD!
I think that we get the same syndrome that teachers do. Time stands still for them and I think the same goes for some of us with people/groups we grew up following. Especially with those who aren't out there much anymore.
We think and expect that they can and should still be doing something for US. Yet, do we forget also how old some of these people are.
How long do we expect them to, and be able to still produce/do something we WANT?
It drives me nuts that some keep EXPECTING...just because someone gave us something great once, doesn't mean they owe us that for the rest of thier lives.
I totally respect how the dude has chosen to live his life. Kudos.

Faithlessly

We the fans ran
Into the Journey hell
Singers go in and out
Perry's on their mind

Restless Fro
Can't sleep alone at night
Sendin' all his money
Instead of zipping his schlong

We see that this band
Ain't nothing like a family
Right down the line
It's been all about money
And being a Journey singer
Sure ain't what it's supposed to be
Oh fans don't stand by them
They're forever there
Faithlessly

Circus life
Doing the dirty dozen
They are all just clowns
Look at Fro's fake smile

Through county fairs
Always another show
Wondering where Perry is
Lost without him

And being a fan ain't easy on this Journey girl
Rotating singers we learn to fall in love with again
Friga gets the joy
Of robbing us blind
Oh fans don't stand by them
They're at the county fair
Faithlessly

Woh-oh-oh
Woh-oh-oh-oh

Faithlessly

They're still there

They're forever there
At the county fair
Faithlessly

SP back with Journey? I stand a better chance of winning the Powerball.

Perry has grown and moved on with his life and his career. Doing what he wants, when he wants is something he has worked for and earned. Financially, he made all the right moves which leaves him calling the shots. I would say a very keen, meticulous and intellegent gentleman.

Journey needs SP, HOWEVER, SP doesn't need Journey at all!!

Hope you're loving life Steve. :D

Well since people get all whiny and bent out of shape when other threads get hijacked, I thought I'd join the crowd! Remember, earlier you told me NOT to tell you what to do. I wanted to tell you at that point to get the hell out of my topic since I answered all of your Loon questions, and yet you kept asking the same things in different ways. I was polite and gentlemanly about answering your questions and you hijacked a real Journey related topic with song parodies. I have a great sense of humor and right now I'm laughing my balls off at all you fuckers that actually believe that Perry will EVER rejoin these assholes much less do anything more than backing vocals for other artists. That to me is the funniest thing I hear on these boards on a daily basis and it always makes me chuckle. So thanks for the laughs.

I think that should finally put the Perry is coming back bullshit to rest.

Thanks for posting what you heard. Love hearing about Steve and what he has to say. I don't expect him to rejoin Journey. Like he sayes that ended in 1998. But I don't expect him to ever sing solo on a stage again either. That part I think he is retired from. Which is why he can't say he's retired. Because from some parts he isn't retired from. Besides, that man couldn't really walk away from music. It's in his DNA for crying out loud. So he can still do backup singing and producing. Which I think he loves doing. Plus helping the new talent that's just coming up.

Um excuse me Jeff. I did NOT ask u the same questions in different ways. I was trying to get the other details out of u. The ones u posted were extremely scant. I assume he was interviewed for more than 10 seconds? If so he said more than u posted & I'd like to know what. I'm a loon, I hang on his every word. I admit it! As for the song parodies, I did not start that. Yes, I participated, but I did not start it. Do not accuse me of things I don't do.

For the 5th time today, I do NOT now & have NEVER believed that Perry will rejoin Journey. How many times & how many ways do I have to say that before u understand it. But u wonder why I don't believe Perry is retired when he has NEVER said that? I have said here to u today, in other threads today, in other threads all along since I've been on this forum, & also to u in chat at the Annex, that I do not believe Perry will ever rejoin Journey. Yet, u continue to accuse me of believing that.

As for him possibly singing more than backing vocals, I do hold out hope for that. Laugh at me all u want but as I said before, I have very good reason to believe that he may do more than that. Will it come to pass? I don't know. But until I know it hasn't, I'll hope for it.
