With DeYoung, the Panozzo brothers, John Curulewski and James "J.Y." Young, the band released three triple-platinum albums and many hits, including "Show Me the Way," "Lady" and "Babe."
The album will be released in the United States in late fall and will feature extra songs.
"They're coming," he said. "They're clearing customs as we speak."

extra songs are coming...... is this the first US release that has the bonus tracks on it? Isn't it usually the Japanese albums that have extras?

Well, okay, so how about this? How about if you purchase the US version of 100 Years From now... you get a free download of All For Love? Not actually on the CD, but a little extra perk if you buy it. Bam! Everyone's happy. (I've seen a few artists do this... including Elton John on his last CD...)

I don't see what band politics have to do with it.

If JY had songwriting credits, it could cause potential complications (not saying it would, but it could). JY couldn't necessarily block them from re-recording it, but he could most likely deny them the mechanical license to use the song if he was a 1/3 songwriter and would need to be paid.

It was my understanding that this song was going to be added to the cd.

Even assuming he had a writing credit on this song, he most likely has no intention of doing anything with it himself, so why go through the trouble and expense to try and block it's use rather than just sit back and collect the (admittedly meager) royalty checks? Pure spite? C'mon.

The same reason DDY doesn't want stuff of Gowan doing songs like "Come Sail Away" out there when they release live product. DDY could have let them use video and audio footage; he really hasn't. EIther that or JY doesn't want to pay DDY a nickel (but I bet they are on some level anyway ...).
While it shouldn't make a difference, we all know the bad blood matters here.
stabbim wrote:I'm sure it matters, I just doubt that it matters that much in this case.
I think a lot of folks here are jumping at shadows lately, especially when it comes to JY.
