Very cool. Forgot that "Pieces Of Eight" used to be part of that.

Was this for a TV show or something? The stage looks unusually cramped.

Glad you liked it. Something live for everyone, regardless what version you like.

I just posted Rock to the Rescue there too. Love is the ritual is there also.

Watch the entire concert/selection through the playlists. Not all playlists are live. I rotate them from the public to private area.
I am busy the rest of the week, but will be adding three more Tommy Borders shows soon.

Can't help but notice how much shorter the songs were back then.

I believe it was the October 10, 2000 show at Metropolis in Montreal. It was filmed for Canadian TV. Use the playlists to see the whole concert (or at least what they released).

Well, it also proves had they done more of this road and had JY or TS sing some of the DDY songs, it would have been fine. It's one of the better medleys they've done. I remember seeing this live. I also sadly miss Styx doing "Rockin' the Paradise" - there's something just right about JY and TS playing those riffs.

Since this is also 2000 I think the band is much more "alive" to me than they are now. I know they are having fun now, but I argue they were doing better shows earlier. They had something to prove.

And yes, Glen added a lot. Ricky isn't as good, but he does the job.

Did anyone catch the guitar riff over the drum beat in the beginning? Interesting ... yet another Cyclorama song that was sorta played live.

I like the medley now but this one is just great!! I would like some medleys from just albums, a cyclomedley or the brave new world medley, mix it up! :)

It was ballsy for sure.

The irony of it all for me was that during one of the early tours, they came out behind/beside those big S T Y X letters for awhile - it was a very Dennis moment to me. I think it was the 2000 - 2001 tour because I remember them then launching into this medley; I could be wrong. It's been awhile. I thought it was a nice theatric touch and very much in the Styx tradition.

Why is it ironic
These guys are followers and copycats
Its perfect for them.

Saw Shaw on some E celeb show
My god is he in need of some help
And his wife what a dream world she is living in
I can see why Styx is in a mess she needs to buy more shoes

With all due respect to Dennis, this clip ROCKS. I've never seen this or heard this before. Awesome- thanks for sharing it!
This was apparently from a televised show. Is the rest of it out there? TOTALLY cool.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Todd is definitely a good drummer. I wish he would get back to some of the core parts, though. He's been in Styx now for 11 years and I think he's starting to deviate a bit too much at times. He was much more reigned in here.

I posted the whole show. If you click on playlists at the top of the page, then look for "Montreal 2000" you will get the show as it originally aired. All my playlists group the songs as they appeared in the shows release.

Ha. Well, as a musician, I understand. Doing songs like "Grand Illusion" 100s of time a year, year in and year out, you want to keep it fresh. I don't have a problem with taking some liberties and making it your own in some way, but I think over time it morphs into something else. So it's a delicate balance to achieve - especially when you're playing someone else's parts.

I'm sure you face the same thing :D
