Won't be seeing Journey, but since I can't go to the MR show since it's on my daughter's birthday, I am hoping to attend Sam Grow's show with Jeff & the boys on October 1st in La Plata, MD. Can't wait!! Is this the wrong place to be plugging this.....oh, well... !

No.

I can't respect these guys anymore.
They can do nothing but trash the guy that made them famous in the first place, they're disrespectful to their fans (Neal is a rude bastard and Friga says the fans are 'flighty' - wow, I feel so valued), they continually screw their singers over, they screwed over a guy who just six months before they were excited to announce as their singer in favor of a tribute band guy (no offense to Jeremy specifically) because all they want it a perry impersonator, which brings me back to the first point I made - how these guys can cling so tightly to the perry tails - to the point of making the statement that that's what they still want to sound like, and looking at tribute band singers to replace JSS, yet actually trash the shit out of perry himself, IN FRONT of fans no less, is totally beyond me.

Either stop trashing Perry OR let go of his fucking coat tails and bring JSS back. Can't do both, guys!

1) Bring me up to speed on how they trashed perry?
2) Couldn't agree more on the "bring JSS back" sentiment.

I am there regardless...and so will 99% of the fans... only few will not go because of either JSS or Augeri or Perry will not be performing...remember even in 06 most of the mass had no clue that Perry was NOT in the band still.

To those of you that will go "regardless," you're pathetic. Where the Hell is your backbone? You mean to tell me you NEED to hear Anyway You Want It live just one more time? Damn, you just have to see Cain tickle the ivory, lip sync Every Generation (again), and Ross squirt you with his water pistol. How fucking exciting! Boy, I wish I could see Neal "shred to Open Arms!

"I will be there regardless." Man, just fuckin sickening. Where are your scruples? I guess the fans that will continue with this knife weilding outfit, closely resembles the band in themselves.

I say "screw you."

You go see Journey go through the motions and play the dirty dozen, meanwhile, I'll go see Jeff play lesser known tunes albeit, but LIVE and with vigor, and I will feel a thousand times better giving my money to a man with a fucking good heart, good intentions, and good will to his fanbase.

That's just it. I am so sick of the "dirty dozen" I could scream. One of the things I liked about the Journey concert last summer was that they were playing deep cuts from Escape - songs I had never heard live before. I do not need to hear another "sings-like-Perry" guy. At least JSS brought a unique sound to the old standards.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a million and one "sings-like-Perry" guys? Now, SA had his own voice and I came to really enjoy the songs he wrote and sang (anything but the dirty dozen). I'm tired of sings-like-Perry guys. I don't even know that Perry can "sing-like-Perry" anymore.

No offense to Jeremey, who really has a beautiful voice. I'd love to hear that voice on some original material. There are so many Journey tribute bands, there is one right here in the Bay Area - and no, I don't mean the original band.

And because I'm sick of the dirty dozen, AND I've seen three different singers front the band AND I'm really tired of all the drama I won't be seeing Journey live again.

I'm a Journey fan and I have great memories. But if memories were all they sang, I'd rather they drove a truck <--- paraphrasing ol' Rick there :)

I would still go. The Voice is the man. I know won't sound like he did 25 years ago. That's not the point. I love his more mature-sounding voice just as much as his younger voice.

I will not be going, unless Perry or Soto are doing lead vocals. Since I think Perry and Soto are way too smart to come anywhere close to Journey again, I will not be seeing them. If they happen to be double billed, I'll be leaving early, like we did in 2003! :P :P :P

no its not pathetic... most people go for the music now days (if Jeremy gets the nod) we will go for the music we love, most want to hear the old stuff... only 30 people want to hear the new stuff...MOST DONT worry about who is who and the personalities.. Neal can still play like crazy and his shredding never gets old... I would much rather have Rolie then Cain, but i love the era of infinity, evolution and departure...compared to escape, frontiers and ROR... those songs were the best and HAVE PAST the test of time. MHO.

Never with a tribute singer- I would only support Perry, Soto or Chalfant- and only then with a new CD- no more dirty dozen for me.

Flew right over your head. My point is that people who can just get back onboard for the sake of getting back onboard are fucked. I am talking about people who KNOW what happened, Rick....They know of the assfucking that happened. People HERE on this Board who were supposed to have supported the good in the band, only want to continue for what reason? What fucking reason? Do they honestly think they will hear something new? An old gem like WCTNGF? Do they honestly think the "new singer" will be better than Jeff? Like I said, why would certain people like Red 13 and St John continue, especially when there will be NO new music? To hear DSB, .........................again?

Journey had a chance to become valid again. They are merely there, no direction, no conviction and no soul. They are a joke. All 5 of them. They basically said-

"fuck our fans. They eat up anything we do....they will still come out, get hammered and watch us go through the motions, again."

And their right. Even here, certain posters say they will still go see the same old show, even though they buitch about setlists and the dirty dozen.

Jeff wouldn't have done that. He would want to write, create a new path, a different road taken, and do something to make the band alive and valid again. You people were all on board if I recall. You all were yelling out for certain songs, Winds of March, Opened the Door, and Lovin You is Easy. Now, you want anything this band does, even if it's the same ol' shit. Wow, that excites me!

You are absolutely right about this, but if they hire Jeremey, I would like to go once just to see how he does. Outside of Jeremey though I couldn't care less about seeing Journey again.

You can see it on youtube. Why pay money, hard earned money to see an overpriced product.

Journey is like the Chicago Cubs. People still go to see a shitty product(well this year the Cubs aren't helping my argument, because Lou Piniela can flatout manage). They trot any shit they want and people still go. Pathetic.

I don't say this often, but you sometimes represent my sentiments to the T.. Awesome post, Dean!

My thoughts were always, "move on or hang it up, Journey." At this point in time, we've all seen the dirty dozen played live far too many times. Have some damned balls again Journey or just retire.

I'm done going to Journey shows. I will leave the door open for a reunion, but we all know about that one. I have loved this band a really long time. My first Journey show I was in jr. high and caught a show on the Evoution tour. I was late on the Augeri band wagon as I didn't see them until the Detour, 2004. Then I went crazy and saw a ton of shows in 05. Took a break when the DL tour was announced and tapegate broke, but caught 6 shows when Jeff came on board.

My life is changing in a huge way. I won't be going to concerts like I used to so I will choose carefully. Journey has run out of time with me. I mean no offense to the 'next guy' it's Jon's "sound like our units sold" comment that made me realize they are living in the past and are a tribute to their glory days. I'll support new talent, see bands I never got around to seeing. If I find myself craving a Journey fix I'll catch one of the many tribute bands that are out there.... it'll cost a helluva lot less!
Until we meet again, may God
Hold you in the palm of his hand.

I won't be going "regardless". However, I will be going if they put someone out front that can kick ass. And if I can't get a preview before hand, I will spend the fuckin $40 bucks to go see them live anyhow. If they don't put someone out front that makes me think "Holy fuck this guy is fucking awesome" then I won't be there given a preview available. I can tell you, I would not be going back to see them with their previous line up.

Whatever. You're a little too late on this one. You should have figured out all of the above before they even put JSS on tour. JSS could have given them a 10x platinum album which outsold Escape...but would change the nature of the other members of the band who are looking out only for themselves.

The truth is Journey will ALWAYS find enough people out there to allow them to tour. They'll find an audience for Jeremy, or Hugo, or Chalfant, or whoever. It doesn't matter. They could tour and make a profit with 500 tickets/show. Little River Band does, and they are a lot worse off then Journey. Journey find their cheerleaders...Perry cheerleaders, Augeri cheerleaders, JSS cheerleaders...and whoever is next. It doesn't matter - as long as they buy tickets.

That is the nature of Journey now...and has been LONG before Augeri left the band.

Yep, you're right Monker. Understand I was in a nice spot, and Hell, I fell for it, hook line and sinker, much like others have/had. It's a trap, everyone KNOWS it going in, yet, they STILL go into the trap. no its not pathetic... most people go for the music now days

Journey Motel, "you check in, stay awhile (no pun intended), and get evicted with a coke and a bag of cookies, and an expired bus ticket..thanks for coming, get the fuck outta here."

I can see it now. The front page of the NY Times headline story tomorrow will read "A First; RocknDeano Agrees With Monker!"
