It was some incredible band named STYX!!

IN 1976. I think it was the Cow Palace? I could be wrong where it was.
I saw Styx so many friggin times! Tommy was in the band, and not JC.

Styx - 1983 Astrodome (I THINK. I KNOW it was houston. but I don't have the stub anymore)
I was 3 and my brother took me. Don't remember a damn bit of the show but even back then...I was an die-hard music fan. :-)

Postby cittadeeno23 » Sat Aug 11, 2007 5:30 am

I could be wrong about the cow palace in 76. I know I saw the Crystal ball tour. I also saw Styx in the Cow Palace near San Fran a few times between 1976 and 1981. I also saw them in Oakland with the Cars. I remember seeing them with the Babys opening up too. I think that was also the Cow Palace. I also saw them In some small place in Berkley for the Kilroy tour.

The Paradise tour in 1981 was really fun. They were one of the most popular bands in the country at that time and everyone was pumped up in the audience. Very fun!! I remember lots of HOT girls screaming thier heads off!

I was only 12 in 1976, but I remember they opened up and people started leaving when they were done! They should have been the headliners. At the time I didn't know who the headliners were. I think it was BTO. Me and my older buddy left as soon as Styx left the stage!
But back then, it was my first Styx show and that was all I cared about. So did the rest of the audience, it turned out!
I think I understand why Chuck says in his book that bands no longer wanted Styx opening up for them!

This board is full of little kids!!!

My first concert? Only a hazy memory now. And my ears still ring from the screams. No actual music was heard.

The Beatles - Houston, 1964.

Yes I do! But remember, there are a number of the members on this board who make a big deal of some guys that are my age, or nearly so! :D

I saw Simon & Garfunkel when I was in college. Two guys. One guitar. Unbelievable sound!

One of my favorite concerts a number of years later was the Kinks. They rocked like no one I had ever seen before.

Gr8 answer here-----,I remember in high school they had a concert in the gym.
It was this old jazz guy (we all thought it was gonna be shit),and the first thing he said,,'You don't want jazz do you'?NOH.
(He was a violinist) and we expected the worst, and he kicked the meanest jazz metal rock shit in early 70es.BLISS.
where was I.?
