Singing covers? :? Or was it that rockin' original they had? :P J/K, I know what you mean. He brought an attitude, a stage presence and the promise of a direction that would be toward a different horizon rather than the same old, well travelled road they've been down a million times before.

How'd you find that out? I'll have to look into that. That Kelty is great. I sent that clip to my brother who was a big Perry fan. At first he didn't believe it wasn't Perry. He thought it was a demo from 79. :D

This is a pretty amazing clip.

I know that's the only clip I've heard of him. I want to hear more. Anyway Gotham City doesn't appear to have a website.

They do...just don't have clips. Doesn't appear that he sings much more than background anymore anyway.

Thanks. Look at that songlist. All secular music. I'm sure he'd jump on the Journey gig if he was asked. He's THE guy!!!!

Hey guys...been without a computer for a few weeks during my move, but got it back up tonight, saw this and had to post. I spoke with Jason a few weeks ago about working on a solo project of mine, and I can tell you that he is definitely not interested in doing non-Christian music! He seems like a great guy, but as St John said earlier, he HAS found the Lord! He really did seem like a great guy though. I can't say I wasn't disappointed, but I respect him for his decision!

It's really quite amazing, if you stop and think about it, how MUCH of an impact JSS made on Journey fans in just 11 months. I mean, regardless of which prior singer you prefer, Jeff won over a WHOLE BUNCH of fans in a relatively short period of time, especially given the hostile environment surrounding his entrance into Journey.

Just more evidence of what an incredible performer JSS is!!! 8)

Geeze! That's where Perry's voice went - that is just damn spooky. Had you played that for me, I'd have bet my life on the fact it was SP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So he sings with Gotham City? I've got to find this guy.....

Kelty should team up with the guitarist from Steve Perry's second album. They can sing Journey-like tunes to their hearts content and we'd all be the happier for it. Or not.

Oh come of it. No Perry has always = No Journey, period.

This band died when Perry left the band, end of bloody story. Get a grip with reality. Finished, gone, out! OUUTTTTTT!.

Steve Augeri, JSS are good singers in their own right, and they are.

John West could do it, but the J-Boys blew that too.

I'd say West's vocal skill is on par with JSS. Just different. How they chose Augeri over West to begin with is beyond me. Only thing that makes sense is Neal didn't want to compete with a frontman in his band again. He wants the spotlight on him.

Yeah, I've heard Jason Kelty sing with his former band "Escape" probably at least 30 times, and he nailed Perry's vocals.
I remember asking him what he thought about Kevin Chalfant being Journey's new singer back in the early to mid 90's (for however brief it was) and he said "the hell with that, they should hire me."

I had long Journey related conversations with Jason back in the early to mid 90's, even had him over to my house because we were trading Journey boots at the time, and he was a really cool guy to talk Journey with.

He's the best Journey tribute band singer that I've ever heard.

I'd still love to see Kevin Chalfant in the band, but this guy from The Zoo sounds pretty damn good too.

Andrew,

Is any of this based on fact?

Sounds like it's all hearsay at this point. Did this guy even audition?

Sorry, but there has to be (and is) a better candidate out there.

The answer is obvious, Jeremey should be it. But when has this band ever been know for making good decisions?

Well, if hes at peace with this decision then I wish him well. It would be great to hear him belt out some more Journey tunes but he has found his higher power and that is above all. I would like to hear some of his Contemporary stuff.

I know- I was/am one of those!

I had lost my interest in Journey after SP left- No offense to SA, but he just didn't do it for me. I only went to the show w/JSS because of DL. BOY OH BOY! He blew me and everyone with me right out of the water! Even my hubby, who was/is not a big music fan was convinced to go see him later in the tour. And was blown away as well.

With all that has happened this past year or so, I'm afraid I'm with those in the "original" quote.
No Perry/JSS=NO JOURNEY!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, wine and chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "what a ride!"

Simple...they're not going to do what we want. Augeri is legally out and Chalfant can't handle the catalog at this point in his career so Pineda wins by default. You actually think they'd pick who WE wanted? Dick Wyngz is right....for once.
