I would have done it for the 7DZ tour had he played closer but he basically did the South and that's it. I almost saw Styx/Foreigner/DL in Mansfield - was going to get a $25 "lawn" (nee dirt) seat, see Styx, and leave, but I wound up having something to do.

So the US release is in the first quarter of next year but no mention about Europe. I seriously hope this doesn´t mean that european release is even later or that there will be no european release

What really amazes me is with the way the world is everyone is so bent on where the album is released. It's not like you can't buy Dennis' record from anywhere on the planet. Order it off Amazon. Order it off Dennis DeYoung's web site. I listen to Vacuum (which AOR you may recognize their name since they're from your neck of the woods) and they have zero US releases, but I don't go on a forum and complain about it. I find a vendor online that sells their music and I buy it from them.

I don't understand what the big deal is.

While it is a compliment to Dennis that people are anxious to get a copy of his new CD, apparently at the nearest music store, in this day and age how hard is it to order it online? It is not that expensive either from Amazon.ca or from his website.

The US release will be a little different, but the majority of the album is right there to order and enjoy now.

Glad you can find some solace ChicagoStyx in the fact that Dennis is kicking Styx's ass right now.

Sorry ....not even close. DDY is sitting home most of the time while Styx is playing in front of 20,000 people a night.
btw how is that new cd doing on the charts up north???? As far as I can tell it's already dead.

No your not close. Styx is playing to about 3000 as an opening act to an opening act. They are a joke. Dennis has sold more albums of 100 Years in Quebec that Stynx sold in total of "One With Everything"

CD was #1 in Quebec and solidly in the top 200 for all of Canada of which the only marketing is in Quebec. Wait for the second single to get the rest of Canada. Go smoke that.

I love how you lock on to the facts that you make up. Only 3000 people or less at the Styx portion of the concert and 30 minute sets.

Does this look like 3000 people at the start of the concert?????????

Image

Dennis is doing very well. Can't wait for the opportunity to see him again. But both are playing in front of large crowds now.

Now that is what I consider devoted.

But, unless you are a diehard fan, most people paying their $80 for the best seats are there to see DL or at least 2 of the bands.

Well, mostly, yes. However, my best friend, who is not a "Styx fan" by definition, said she'd go with me if she didn't have to stay for Frampton or Skynryd, so I guess it doesn't apply to *everyone* who isn't a die hard.

The difference here is, of course, the headliner was Dennis. The crowd was not there to see any other bands. 8)

IMHO, it's beyond fair to assume

Postby kipthekid » Thu Aug 30, 2007 1:21 am

that the vast majority of fans in the photo above were NOT there to see NewStyx. Arguing otherwise, IMHO, is disengenuous at best.

You can compare the crowd interaction with the two group pics and see that. Styx' picture, everyone looks like there just standing around, and Dennis' picture people seem to be haveing a great time. I think Dennis was singing "Babe" during this time to. :D

Same reason that some folks have complained about visiting record stores and seeing more compilations in the Styx bins than catalog albums. They just want something to nitpick about.

Holy crap! Now THAT is a crowd picture :) You can see how far back the crowd goes. Did anyone else notice the video camera? That is I'm sure for the in-house video feed that people watch when they are TOO FAR FROM THE STAGE :)

A bada bing and bada bam for Zan! (High five).

This is one of several pics I have seen like this from DDY concerts. Some have even bigger crowds. This one was from 2006, I believe, but no idea where. I guess I could research it a bit.

I wouldn't say the crowd interaction is too good of a measuring tool. Alot of the younger crowd don't seem to
"rock and roll" like in the old days. :P No offense. :)
But, I have seen a picture of the crowd at a Def Lepp show and the numbers were small for the Styx set. As a Styx fan, it was sad to see. So, I'd say the crowd in that picture was there because they had some kind of interest in Styx or,
as someone said, they wouldn't have been there.

OH NO!! Did I just unintentionally take SIDES!!??!! :P

They could be Foreigner fans waiting for there set to start or they could have got there early to get a good seat for Def.

well, the whole crowd was on their feet from the moment the band hit the stage until the moment they left. granted, it was about 45-50 minutes, but still! they WERE really into the show. the fans might have been mostly lep fans, but they were there to ROCK! and they did! (didn't stay for foreigner or lep, so i couldn't tell you about that part of the show)

Now now,there there.
It is easy for you young whippersnappers to make fun of us oletimers.
I was there with the 'Grannies' and a few grampaws like myself.
We had a wonderful day.It is not very often that a young musical group like Stryx have the time of the day for us ole geezers.
But hey they did it.Thank you so much.
One of the members Harry Bowan,I think he said his name was,let the lighter footed of us come up and spin his piano around and around.
So much fun.Around and around.
It was such a wonderful day.
Sorry if I repeat myself. We had so much fun.
Thank you Stryx.
Jesus loves you ,but everybody else thinks you're a knob.
