No they wouldn't. Even with TBF, they were not on that level. They slid out of that level with ROR and have never returned to it...and never will.
If Perry came back, which he won't cuz he can't tour, they would be at a 'level' of many of the other 80's bands who reformed... But, U2? Bruce Springsteen? Please....that is so exagerated. Journey will NEVER be at that level again - Perry or not. When Journey released ROR, that killed any hope of that happening. They changed from being an American version of the Stones, to being another version of the Bay City Rollers, or whatever, not to be taken seriously.
But even if they had begged Perry to bail them out I couldn't blame him for not wanting anything to do with the assholes that have dragged the Journey name through the tractor ruts for the last 10 years.
They made good decisions up to the past few years. They WERE at the top of their 80's contemporaries....Now, they are on the same level, or below them...that is not going to change by hiring some tribute singer, and I don't care what country he is from.
