No they wouldn't. Even with TBF, they were not on that level. They slid out of that level with ROR and have never returned to it...and never will.

If Perry came back, which he won't cuz he can't tour, they would be at a 'level' of many of the other 80's bands who reformed... But, U2? Bruce Springsteen? Please....that is so exagerated. Journey will NEVER be at that level again - Perry or not. When Journey released ROR, that killed any hope of that happening. They changed from being an American version of the Stones, to being another version of the Bay City Rollers, or whatever, not to be taken seriously.

But even if they had begged Perry to bail them out I couldn't blame him for not wanting anything to do with the assholes that have dragged the Journey name through the tractor ruts for the last 10 years.

They made good decisions up to the past few years. They WERE at the top of their 80's contemporaries....Now, they are on the same level, or below them...that is not going to change by hiring some tribute singer, and I don't care what country he is from.

IMO, all of the above are over-priced.

One thing I am 100% right on is saying for the past 10yrs or so that Steve Perry would never tour with Journey again. So, this entire conversation is a bit irrelevant because a tour with Perry will NEVER happen again.

And, while everybody else on this forum was waiting for 'waves', I said there would be no waves and there would be another band member change. The only reason you say I'm wrong 97% of the time is because 97% of the people on this forum didn't have the common sense to not believe every word that came out of the Journey camp - even though recent history shows that most everything that comes out of that camp never ends up happening the way they tell it.

Now some of you ignore the ways of this band and past members and have wild fantasies of Perry touring (even though he hasn't followed thorugh on touring for an album since Frontiers), and Steve Smith returning to the band (even though HE has said he is not interested in a career in rock music). And, you have wild fantasies that Journey, in ANY form, can return to a 'level' of U2 and Bruce Springsteen? You guys are out of touch with reality to believe such things...that's not being 'negative', it's just that I'm not smoking Neal's pot as some of you guys are!

Sorry, $75 to see Journey - when you don't even know who is singing?
$25 to see Neal solo when the only place that would possibly book that concert is your local bar?
$500 to hear Perry hack up a hairball?

It's over-priced for ANYBODY, unless you are a completely foolish fan-boy, or some obsessed groupie.

Neal smokes? Cool...

Anyway, you of all people should know to never say never. Perry, while everyone says will never return, has thrown curve balls in the past. You know that's true. He won't tour again, I'm fairly sure of that, but I would never say he wouldn't record with Journey again. Stranger things have happened. The likelihood of that is small, but like was said in another thread, if the money was right, he would.

I did NOT say wouldn't record with Journey. I said he would never tour with Journey again.

You can't throw a curve ball if your arm is broke...and you can't tour as lead singer of Journey if your voice is broke.

We're on the same page then. SP recording with Journey is most likely a pipe dream, he would rather sit at home and pet the cats, but if the money was right, I don't think it's out of the question.

A while back I said that Journey should do 'whatever' to get Perry to record an album....and then hire somebody else to tour. THAT is what should be done...and make it clear from the beginning that Perry didnot have any obligation to tour. Would Perry do that? I doubt it...but, I won't say it can't happen.

Journey needs to do what Zepplin is doing. Get Perry for one show. See how he does, gauge interest and take it from there. That would give Perry no obligation to tour. I think he needs to grace the stage, get his feet wet and see if he misses it as much as he claims.

You've been slinging that same hash on message boards for years.

Admit it, you're cozying up to certain people who shall remain nameless, in the hopes of maybe meeting the Sausage King. Obsessed fans, and all that.

I do not think he will tour again. I think he may record with them and do one show, stadium, in Calif and they would DVD it. Perry is Perry and he is always in control and never says never. So bottom line is I think ego and product pride will win out. It will be his goodbye. All I know is if he sticks his head up out of his cocoon he is the E F Hutton of music & people listen.

What if management has already gauged interest and determined that the market for a reunion isn't there at the level we would like for it to be? Azoff manages the Eagles, so i would think that he has a pretty good idea of what a reunion could bring.

Maybe SP realizes that a reunion would not do more than 4000 - 5000 seat venues, and doesn't want the embarassment of showing that they are not what they used to be in the market.

I don't have a clue what a tour would bring. 5000 or 25000 for each show. I gotta think that SP would want to have a very good feel before he ver committed.

tj- stadiums in Ca if promoted with Perry singing and 20-30,000 in other cities. Some even multiple nights. It would take a lot of promotion, since many know Perry is gone.

I know Steve is not going to tour. I think with the right promotion including a one off televised show a Journey w/Perry CD could sell as well as U2 or Bruce.

That's where we just disagree Monker. I think dumping Perry was a mistake. They've been on a downhill slide ever since. I really don't see how anyone can call Augeri a good decision because all he did was sing the songs that Journey was already famous for. He added nothing that anyone but a relative few internet diehards even care about. I'm not saying that to be hateful or prolong an argument. I'm saying it because I believe it to be true.

Or maybe just this one time... Neal actually... knows better? I kind of think those guys have to figure that it's a lost cause at this point. Not that they wouldn't say 'no' to the idea, because hey, that's a lot of cashola, but... they probably aren't hanging around holding their breath for it.

As for bad blood... it seems that way. Cain's not a fan, Neal had made quite a few smarmy comments in interviews, and even Perry, who normally doesn't go there, let his annoyance show through a little in that last interview he did.

In 2000, the group ABBA (I know, I know) was offered $1 Billion (with a "B") to do a reunion tour of 100 shows and they turned it down.
