Anyway...I accept that there are all kinds of reasons to take against Arnel...the question mark over his stage presence...loyalty to another singer..a wish for the band to retire....and so on. But even though Arnel's race has been a burning issue of debate and the butt of a hundred jokes EVERYONE is denying that they are racist.

Yes, some of all this fuss might come from politically correct posters who throw the term around too easily. However the law of averages suggest that some people genuinely are being racist about this.

I wish someone would just have the balls to say: "Yes, I don't want Arnel to join Journey for racist reasons. Just as I wouldn't want a woman to front Journey for sexist reasons. And I don't give a shit who knows it."

Instead we all these 'patriots' paying lip-service to a touchy-feely liberalism they simultaneously claim to despise.

By American you mean 'passport holder'...because your country is a right old hotch-potch of races and cultures. Would you feel differently if Arnel had a US passport?

I mean a U.S. citizen. That's not necessarily my opinion on it, I'm just saying that it's not racist.

But Rick...there are millions of US citizens who can't speak English at all...yet alone with just a very slight accent like Arnel does. And there are millions of US citizens who are from Asia and who rarely mix outside their own communities and therefore aren't 'culturally American' even if they hold a passport....unlike Arnel who seems to be steeped in US pop culture.

So all of the problems with Arnel regarding his heritage...his accent...his looks...could equally apply if he were a US citizen. Are you seriously saying that people would give him a free pass on all that if he had a US passport?

Sorry - I don't quite buy this argument that it's all about 'nationality'...

Do yourself a favor....before you comment on americans, get on a fucking plane....live here until such time that you are able to be naturalized....become one.

Until then, shut the fuck up and comment on your own country. You know nothing about this nation and what it means to be a citizen here....so you arent allowed to comment. Do you understand?

If yes, post your aknowledgement on Culture Club's website. I won't check there, I'll take your word for it!

Now this is something we agree on. I really hate foreigners making nasty comments about our country here on this board. It's the same kind of thing as someone making a nasty comment about someone in my family. I can criticize someone in my own family but I'll beat the hell out of an outsider if I hear them putting my relatives down. Same principle applies to my country.

So fucking what!?!? I wouldn't expect NWA to replace Eazy-E with a fat, red headed white guy simply because he was a bit better than a black guy that looked like Snoop. The choice would be simple AND race would CERTAINLY, and justifiably so, be a MAJOR part of the decision process. It's really pretty fucking simple.

Stupid.

Black artists are black artists and they're KNOWN and ACCEPTED as strictly black performers. Not racist at all. It has EVERYTHING to do with their ART and culture.

JOURNEY is NOT the same. JOURNEY is not considered an "all-caucasian" band. They're a ROCK band. Rock bands can be fronted by women or men from whatever culture or nation just as long as they ROCK.

Steve Perry is Portugese; JSS is Puerto Rican; and Steve Augeri is Italian. They ALL rock.

You're a hysterical little girl.

You must've cried like a baby when you found out Hootie and the Blowfish weren't all white. I bet you stripped down and ran into the shower to wash all the dirty off.

Here's yet another in a long list of double standards that you live by!

How about you do the same before you comment about the Filipino culture?

You're such a jackass. Do YOU understand?

No one is being racist. I don't think anyone here feels superior over anyone else's race or culture.

But it is fucking funny as shit that Frig and Fro had to go get someone from a 3rd world nation who is virtually unknown to just control. And that seems to me what it is all about.

They already had the perfect choice, and someone - you lazy race baiters - who wasn't "caucasian" so just shut the fuck up already.

The jokes are hilarious and comedy is not pretty. It's based on stereotypes, and I don't think anyone here really thinks Arnel eats dogs. But keep the jokes coming!!!!!!

Fyre is just sensitive because he had to order a mail order bride to get laid.

(and that's a joke before you go on another lame PC tirade)

Hey Fyre,

I'm still waiting for an accurate answer to my question from the other thread that got shut down. Not just some canned wikipedia or websters definition. In case you forgot the question, I'll reiterate it for you. All others feel free to answers it also.

1. If I were to hang a bunch of nooses in my tree in the front yard for all to see is that racist? Or is a perception of racism you have based on what you've learned in our contry's history? I personally believe that unless there are folks from different ethnic backgrounds occupying those nooses they amount to nothing more than a bunch of ropes hanging in a tree.

2. Now if six people of differing ethnic backgrounds beat me almost to death because of nooses hanging in my neighbors tree and I have nothing to do with the nooses in the tree, isn't that racist towards me because I happen to be white? If that's the case where is your outrage every time someone from a different ethnic background commits a crime against a caucasian.

Again I reiterate that the whole theory of racism as it is known today is based on a historical perception that we are taught in school. A lot of the stuff that goes on now days would NOT have been considered racist back then.

By American you mean 'passport holder'...because your country is a right old hotch-potch of races and cultures. Would you feel differently if Arnel had a US passport?

I mean a U.S. citizen. That's not necessarily my opinion on it, I'm just saying that it's not racist.

He would get a better head start, that's for sure. If he could go out and sing the catalog like the fans expect to hear it, I don't see why not. I don't give a hoot where their next lead singer is from. Could be from Bangladesh, I honestly don't give a shit. I'm just trying to protect those that have the right to be patriotic and wish for an American singer, and say those people aren't racist. It's not about race, it's about national pride. Why is the U.S. the ONLY fucking country that can't have that?

You aren't anything but a fucking troll. You come in here JUST to cause problems. You stand on the exact same soap box as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. You are an embarrassment. Why can't white people have a culture? Answer that one troll.

Yes but just because I'm a narcissist and an egomaniac. Although I prefer the term "high self esteem".
