The Cyclomedley= Retired

Postby Everett » Sun Oct 14, 2007 9:53 am

I e mailed todd on myspace today and he actually e mailed me back. I asked if him they did indeed retire the medley and here was his response:
3 years of playing it---everyone got sick of it I guess! I dunno. I don't make the calls.
Well whoever does make the calls made the wrong decision at least I think. One can only hope they play it again someday but for now I hope they go back to playing the sets like they did back in '99 or so. How about dusting off light up or any wooden nickel stuff?

So if they're tired of playing the Cylomedley after only 3 years, I can only imagine how they feel about the standard 8 songs. They really need to change up the set list big time! I love Styx but just could not bring myself to support this summer tour. They always put on a good show but had to be on autopilot this summer.

I always thought the Cyclomedley got a mixed response. I generally saw a number of people heading for the beer lines and bathrooms when it started. To be honest, I've heard it enough times; and now that we have it in high quality on DVD from One With Everything I can listen to or watch it whenever I want.

I thought it would have been a really cool show opener.

Maybe they decided to quit playing it since they started playing "Midnite Ride".
Either way, I want to hear it. Since it's impossible to hear all of their songs that I LOVE
in one night, at least the medley covers quite a few of them, including "Lights", one of
my all time favorites.

One thing I have noticed people comment on about STYX, though...they seem to (at least) throw in an unexpected song here and there! :D

If that is the requirement for retirement, froy, I think you would qualify, also. :P J.K.
