Journey to Tour with Perry in 2008 - FALSE!!!!!!!

Postby Voyager » Sat Nov 03, 2007 5:10 am

Our local rock radio station WCVS in Springfield, Illinois reported that there are rumors coming from reliable sources that Steve Perry is going to be touring with Journey in 2008. This station has always been correct about rumors that they have broadcast in the past regarding concert tours. They have been the first source that I heard about Steve Augeri / Journey, Jeff Scott Soto / Journey, David Lee Roth / Van Halen, and other tour rumors. I can only hope that they are right about this. I would think there must be some credible sources speaking out for them to broadcast something of this nature. They also said that Steve Perry was going to be in Nashville preparing his voice for the tour, and that the lineup would consist of "original" band members.

Now don't slam me for putting this rumor out, because I am only passing on what I heard on the radio. My wife heard it too, and we both smiled at each other and gave a high five. We are both HUGE Journey fans, and this would be a dream come true for both of us.

If this reunion happens, we'll be flying somewhere to see the first show - and probably several others also.

If this does indeed happen, we better all fly to the first show because there is no guarantee how long that tour would last.

Kamala will be touring with Journey in 2008. It's really the only logical, sound decision.

If true, Steve will probably injure himself on a bowflex machine this time.

Well, it would be the ONLY reason to see Journey again. Still... makes me scratch my head and go... WTF?

Time to place a call to UJ.

LOL! Hey, if David Lee Roth can get along with Van Halen for a few months, surely Steve can get along with Frigga, Fro, and the gang to do 40 or 50 shows. They energy of the fans alone would carry them. There is no doubt in my mind that all the shows would be sold out within days. Perry's name is as big as Journey's name or bigger.

I am sure they could put up with each other. But Perry has always been very much the perfectionist when it comes to his voice. I would be worried about his voice holding out over the long haul. Maybe given proper rest between shows. As for DLR, that guy never cared how he sounded ("open up and shout it out, never try to sing). :)

I agree. Back-to-back shows should be out of the question. Even DLR sounds better after a few days of rest on the VH tour. When you're 20-something you can gig five nights a week, but once you hit 40 the adrenalin just doesn't work like it used to. If it were me doing the scheduling, I would give them two days off between each show.

Hey, I never thought DLR would be back in Van Halen for the life of me. There was a whole lot more hostility between DLR and Eddie than there ever was between Steve Perry and Journey. I think the greatness of what they did together can outweigh any disagreements or bitter feelings. Time has a way of healing old wounds.

Maybe the band's crackerjack PR people are putting this out so people will buy tickets and then it's the old bait and switch. :P

Well, Cyndy confirmed that Journey's in the studio with Shirley, any chance she could jump in this thread with a verification? After all, if it doesn't come from Fan Asylum, I'd be real hard pressed to have faith in any of the other rumors out there, especially considering Steve's disclaimer on FA earlier this summer.

Since I've never seen Perry live, with or without Journey, this would really be a dream come true. The only thing to top that would be with a fully recovered John Spinks and The Outfield opening up for them. Viva la 1987!!

Something bigger than that came up...
Wouldn't excuse the manner they treated JSS,but would make sense from a business point of view.
A last reunion with Perry is an offer that Journey couldn't possibly refuse.

Yeah...And there were more than a few cryptic references to "deja vu" while I was out in CA that made no sense to me. That and a few overheard phone calls.

But why would they even have brought you out there Jeremey if they dumped Jeff because they knew Steve would come back?

Like I said in my "Steve Perry Prediction" thread, IF he's going to do it, the time is VERY ripe. PERECT timing Mr. Perry to do this "one last time" for the fans. woo hoo!

The fact that Perry attended the Walk of Fame with Journey in 2005 says a lot. If there was unresolvable bitterness, that never would have happened.
