Many of us feel the same way Steve. It's about a 50/50 split. 50% are willing to embrace whoever Neal and the boys throw at them, the other 50% are mad as hell, and they're not going to take it anymore.

There is no way Arnel has the passion for this music that Jeff had. Jeff sang with his soul.

I don't know why I keep coming here (Journey's site, not your's as a whole, Andrew). Perhaps to keep peace of mind that I am not the only one on the planet who feels the way a lot of us do.

Official press release says: Neal wanted a singer who was new to the music biz??? "Translation: Someone who won't talk back!"

WTF??? Arnel had a major label deal thru MCA/Universal and his own personal management! Since when does that qualify as new to the business?

Thank you!!!! I thought this was a HUGE insult to Arnel when I read it.

Could be. I was surfing for information on a Chinese singer recently and was stunned to see how large the Asian music market is! Turns out the guy I was looking for was born and raised in New York, but his record deals are in Asia.

They finally put the press release up on their official "website." First update in six months...still no redesigned site though. And I use the term "website" loosely when describing what they're trying to pass off as theirs.

I don't even know what to say to that ..

Maybe... just maybe... if Schon had allowed Augeri's voice to just rest for a minute, we wouldn't have to adapt to their 3rd singer in this decade! And maybe...just maybe...he and Cain wouldn't be under such scrutiny now!

It seems to me Neal's track record suggest he tends to be a bit impatient and too spontaneous.

I look at this statement by Arnel as really saying..."I think I'm pretty damn good and can easily do justice to SP...perhaps even surpass him".

Cocky little bastard.

the answer to that is plainly explained by schon itself in the press release: "synthetic" figure out what that means, arnel's voice is "full"

Your cheerleading isn't going to do anything here but hurt Arnel. People don't like having something or someone shoved down their throats. All it's going to do is create animosity and resentment. A better course of action would be to let the good people here find their own way. Instead of every post you make being full of Arnel worship, why not try joining in on the discussions that happen here naturally.

Cheers. 8)

Great post, Rick. Arnel's fans are more than welcome to come here. However, as a disclaimer they ought to know that posting opinions on this board is better served by crawling before you run. That is, take some time and get a general "feel" for the forum. Ultimately, time will ultimately tell us exactly how successful Arnel's incarnation will be and no amount of "cheerleading" will change that. Personally, I'm confident that he will do well, relatively speaking. Just like Augeri and Soto did before him. Make no mistake about it though, no one is going to equal Steve Perry. I'm just hoping for some rocking new music, soaring vocals and cool concerts.

PS Hi Jon, hi Neal. Saw one of you fuckers lurking here earlier.

Hey douchebag, Schon said the exact same thing about Soto. Said he was the "real deal" and not some pro tools creation". There is video of him singing Jeff's praises on youtube. I'll be glad to go find it if you'd like.

So we have one real deal with a great voice, and a rock star stage presence and another supposed one who stands there like an American Idol/karoake singer and can't pronounce half the words properly.

They made an awful decision letting go of Soto in the first place. Since that, I'm willing to accept no replacement other than The Voice himself.

I just have absolutely no interest whatsoever in the new guy. I think he just sings the songs for fun and doesn't have the passion for it like Soto had. Or even, as Steve (who had convinced me to register here) pointed out, Jeremy Hundsicker. Saw Frontiers over the summer and I personally feel I saw more Journey in them than I ever would with this new lineup. That's just me.

As I lurked before I activated my account, I noticed someone said "50% will support it, 50% will hate it". So they've essentially lost ANOTHER 50% of the fans they still had. That can't be good for them, at all.

that is a very wise advice rick and will seriously consider it as i am beginning to actually think that the storm has left town. nevertheless, my response was meant only to posit a clearer understanding as to the question "why". i have no intention to talk about JSS, AUGERI, SCHON, PERRY, CAIN, or whoever especially if the topic deals with "what if" and "i believe" and i believe i made myself clear as to my motives just by looking at my handle name. maybe if one can understand "why" one is choosen over the other and the reason behind the "why", then a sort of self liberation can be achieved and a moving forward can be attained instead of deliberating profusely and endlessly in circle --- some things have real logical answers ---if one can liberate itself from fanaticism.

nevertheless, i fully understand the content of your advise and it is very well taken. think forward, or people will be left behind.
