Intro's for 83 or 86??

Postby Carrington » Thu Jan 03, 2008 1:10 pm

The thread about Journey art and the link it provided had me thinking about intros.......the quote from the artist stating the "Alien" from Frontiers was really another state of mind listening to the music, and that they had named it "Elmo" for the tour and Johnathan had written the "Elmo's theme" for the intro lead's me to ask.....

does anyone have the intro to the Frontiers tour anywhere in 83?.....or even the intro to Raised on Radio in 86??.....if I remember corectly, they are bad ass and really gave me chills knowing that the band was about to hit the stage.....

thanks.

I have the Elmo intro...however, the ROR intro was just a elongated drum/guitar crescendo leading into Only the Young.

Deano posted a cool live version of Elmo's Theme, but I had a studio version here - not sure where it came from (maybe TV or something?) and there's a little humm going on in the background. I feel like I never share enough here, so check it out at http://download.yousendit.com/215FA85168EECE84

I remember the hype around Elmo as the album was first released in 83...I think they called him their companion or guardian or something like that. I'm pretty sure it was released January 31, 1983. My folks always used to drag us to my grandmother's house periodically which I'm sad to say, used to bore the hell out of me. But they would stop by the mall on the way, so I remember planning this visit specifically so I could get the album the day it was released. I brought it to grandma's and listened to it with headphones the whole night, must have been at least 3 times straight. She didn't see much of me that night, but she understood. 8)

Funny the stuff you remember. E

Wouldn't that have been a great extra to tag onto the reissue of Frontiers? I've got the "video" version somewhere that's a little bit longer (its the video that they must have projected after the shows finished - it has tour credits and stuff and some neat little animated art stuff). I'll try to post it later on tonight.
