Awesome. :)

I'm glad they changed the set for the 2007 dates but I'm kinda bummed "Make Believe" didn't make it..."Don't Chain My Heart" is okay but was already on a live album (and a ton of bootlegs) while "Make Believe" hadn't been played since 1982. Oh well. Should still be a great DVD. Kinda weird they went ahead with the filming without Mike, but I saw them with Sklar in Chicago and it was still pretty awesome....gave a bit of a different flavor to some of the tunes.

It's never going to be the dream list of songs I would like to hear, but this is still going to be sweet, sounds great. Is there an actual release date for the DVD version?

I had already placed a reservation of the new Toto DVD in one european internet cd-store and originally DVD had same release date as CD. But at the last minute the date of DVD was changed and according to that site it´s coming out next march. It wasn ´t very nice surprise as I very rarely buy live CDs nowadays because what´s the point of buying live CD when you have same sound quality added with visual when buying live DVD. It was different case back in the days of videotapes when you got better soundquality when bought CD instead of the tape.

Yeah, I never understood it either.

IF you want to do a live CD and DVD...at least make them different. Even if it's a similar setlist, release a different show on the CD so fans have a real reason to get both.

Listened to the samples and...I love these guys, but...there's no way Bobby's vocals are really live...I saw them 4 times on this tour (Milwaukee, two in Chicago and Los Angeles) and while the guy's still got it, he was nowhere near as accurate pitch-wise as he sounds on the samples. He never sounded bad, but his belting vocal style never really lent itself to smooth Steve Perry-esque singing, and so he's always had some pitch issues, which really leads me to believe there was some "sweetnening" in post-production, if you will.

Still though...I'm in it for Luke...I'm hoping it's just the vocals they edited and Luke's guitar playing is left intact.

I have been listening to this CD for 2 days straight now..and while the musicianship and sound of this CD is just purely top notch, vocally I am a little disappointed in what I hear..!

It was almost painful to hear how Bobby's AND Luke's vocals have changed since LiA...I don;t know if it was the mix on this CD only, or whatever, but that's my honest opinion.

I love Luke and the band I have ALL their albums and MANY of their side projects, solo's...but it was just difficult to hear them sing on this one...

Sorry...

I have been listening to the new live album now for about a week and have been enjoying it. There are some outstanding stuff on these cds. I love having the "I'll Suppy The Love" live, totally rocks, and Simon's Solo is awesome, and how it rolls right into "Taint Your World" which is also awesome live. Can't wait for the DVD to come out.

Luke's voice has really deteriorated over the years... all the coke and booze has done its damage, along with normal aging of course. It's really sad to look up a video of him singing "I'll Be Over You" from 1990 on YouTube and compare it to more recent videos/audio, where he sounds so much "gruffer."

Coke and booze damage? That's not so cool....Luke's voice sounds fine...perhaps if anything it is only tour weary - the guys have been on the road for over 2 years and tearing it up around the world. A little wear and tear is to be expected.

Luke sounds a million bucks on his new solo album, so a sweeping statement about a damaged voice is a little harsh I think.

Deteriorating was too harsh a word, but you can't argue that his voice has aged over the years (which of course is natural). Luke's extracurricular habits are well documented by his own admission, so his past habits certainly wouldn't be a fountain of youth for his voice. Don't get me wrong Andrew, I love Toto and I especially love Luke vocally and of course on the guitar (I actually post under LukesHydra on another music board). His voice is definitely nowhere near as smooth as it once was though, at least to my ears.

Ok, sure...

But that's what you get when you have an incredible career of 30+ years. There are bound to be changes over time and some artists (Steve Perry for example) have bailed alltogether.

For all the touring and work Luke has delivered over the years, I think he and te band sound remarkably good considering it's 2008. More power to them :)

No kidding. I wish they'd come back to the U.S. and play somewhere I could get to. Right now I gotta live with Amsterdam and soon FIB Live. Was the Rosanna commercial really the last straw for Luke/Toto and the U.S.?

Let's hope they "mend fences" with Dave and get him back along with Mike for a true "classic" lineup.

Luke is the best.

Good post Drew. Couldn't have said it better (glad you stepped up). I've heard two tracks from the new Luke album that were played on an internet Radio station, Ever Changing Times, and The Letting Go - great stuff!

I've been giving this album many listens ( still is playing now ) from the time I wrote my opinion a few months ago and yes, I agree with Andrew that there will be wear and tear on their vocals due to the rigourous touring they're doing and its only natural that they sound they way do. I was expecting too much I guess, and that's unfair for a guy who's been a fan of the band for more than a third of my life.

Well, anyhow I am looking forward to my 1st ever Toto concert here in SE Asia and since it's the early days of the tour, the boys vocals must be top notch ! Haha.

And to the guys in the band who may have read my comments, my apologies for that, I feel really bad and I'll see you guys live here in KL this March !

Cheers

They were the full tracks. The Letting Go had an interruption every 2 minutes or so from a guy with a german accent saying 'you are listening to Steve Lukather's Ever Changing times' kind of annoying.

Here's the station: http://arfm.co.uk . The show was the 'Steven Price Show' Actually good radio show. I am surprised Andrew doesn't have a station like this or is affiliated with one (maybe he is). I heard some good new AOR/Melodic rock, including a new band called "WOA - Work of Art"

WOA features Lars Safsund and Robert Sall who both performed on my Fanfields, Toto tribute album a few years ago.

Full circle, huh?

Small world, most definitely....That or the network of Toto fans is fairly close...lol..How are you Michael? I remember when you were planning Fanfields back in the day of the Toto mailing list, way back in '96 or so...

The WOA stuff has some good hooks to it, very much akin to Street Talk
