It was almost painful to hear how Bobby's AND Luke's vocals have changed since LiA...I don;t know if it was the mix on this CD only, or whatever, but that's my honest opinion.
I love Luke and the band I have ALL their albums and MANY of their side projects, solo's...but it was just difficult to hear them sing on this one...
Sorry...

It's really sad to look up a video of him singing "I'll Be Over You" from 1990 on YouTube and compare it to more recent videos/audio, where he sounds so much "gruffer."

Coke and booze damage? That's not so cool....Luke's voice sounds fine...perhaps if anything it is only tour weary - the guys have been on the road for over 2 years and tearing it up around the world. A little wear and tear is to be expected.
Luke sounds a million bucks on his new solo album, so a sweeping statement about a damaged voice is a little harsh I think.

But that's what you get when you have an incredible career of 30+ years. There are bound to be changes over time and some artists (Steve Perry for example) have bailed alltogether.
For all the touring and work Luke has delivered over the years, I think he and te band sound remarkably good considering it's 2008. More power to them

Good post Drew. Couldn't have said it better (glad you stepped up). I've heard two tracks from the new Luke album that were played on an internet Radio station, Ever Changing Times, and The Letting Go - great stuff!

Here's the station: http://arfm.co.uk . The show was the 'Steven Price Show' Actually good radio show. I am surprised Andrew doesn't have a station like this or is affiliated with one (maybe he is). I heard some good new AOR/Melodic rock, including a new band called "WOA - Work of Art"

WOA features Lars Safsund and Robert Sall who both performed on my Fanfields, Toto tribute album a few years ago.
Full circle, huh?
