That being said, am I the only one who's confused about this whole second life thingy?

Nope! I just asked the boyo about this Second Life stuff. Basically he told me that I would have to download a program to make myself into some lame cartoon character in order to command my new toon self to wander around at some toon bar, along with other (he suggested KIDS, not adults) toon peeps while listening to strung out elevator music.

Ummm.... I don't think so! It looks to me as if they are definitely pandering to the much younger and most likely asian markets with that move. yeesh......

i don't have enough time in a day in my real life, not likely to seek a second one. I suppose it could keep some kids out of trouble on the streets, I don't know. Too many people live on the internet and don't seem to experience real life and real interaction... too much cyber for my taste.
Until we meet again, may God

Don't underestimate the ages of people who participate in Second Life. Remember, it's a pay service that features a marketplace where you can "buy" things, and you can "buy" land to "build" hang-outs for you and your virtual friends. Microsoft pays millions of dollars to advertise on the most popular buildings - and that money goes to whoever created the hangout.

But like Saint John said, it's mainly people who aren't happy with their first life.

If I read that correctly, it looks like there are two things happening here. They are starting up Journey island in SL, and they are going to reopen the Journeymusic website including a new forum section. Thank god wildebeasts onward.

Afraid, I no longer give a damn.
Sometimes abseence
does not make the heart grow fonder.

Second life?
I'd say they are already on there 4th or 5th
We already got most of the remasters

Maybe they are already in a Virtual world
Build a virtual stadium
hold virtual concerts
have virtual meetings with the band
heck why not have virtual
you write the journey music
& sing it yourself...

If Journey was a cat
they might be lucky to have a few lives left

In as much as the problems and such on BT I had a feeling they were not going to reopen it.,
It is obvious they donl;t care what the older fans think or say.
Sorry cannot blindly follow them and agree with what they do anymore. espcially not a cd of rerecorded classics. Should have been done in 98 in my opinion,
Oh well less money I have to or will spend,

To bad Journey
can't be like Ebay
Making profit
getting rid of things no longer wanted.
Only thing is
have to find someone who does

Journey Garage Sale.

Second Life? Does the group suggest you should be waiting for Haley's comet? It sounds like a cult!

For within the dung
the beetle is reborn...

The journey begins in the dung
the beetle gathers it rolling it into a big ball
in which the beetle deposits it eggs
Rolling it around the hot desert sand
i
the eggs are kept warm
til from the dung
the beetle is again born...

Sounds more like a glorified name for fertilizer...

Yeah it does, doesn't it? And in a way, I think it kind of is - special kind of folks hanging out in things like that - an alternate life for those who don't have a real one, as SJ said. I picture the "gaming" crowd who never leave the PC and haven't seen the sun since 1997.

Duran Duran was the first band I believe to play a virtual concert in "Second Life". Maybe Journey figures that performing for an audience of people who stay glued to their computer screens most of their lives is the best way to reach out to us... :P

Whomever thought of this idea is just wrong. It's a bad idea. They just took out the audience and made it too indiviudalized. So now they're playing to one person at a time...well, I guess they're going to be working a bit harder to get fans this way.

Maybe it's easier
than admitting you failed
cheaper than having a wake.
Admit you died
skip the funeral
forgo the plot & burial
& jump to the afterlife
or in this case second life

what's really bad is that going forward, every review that's written about Journey...will have to have a standard paragraph at the end...explaining who the current band members are.....how to pronounce Arnel's name ("pin-eh-duh") - and the lineage of the band's 19-member singer history....

Postby To Be Alive » Sat Jan 26, 2008 11:55 am

Hi all - I'm new here (been reading for a while but haven't posted much yet). But, I used to post some on BT (as Front Row in AR) before it spontaneously combusted. Second Life is something that CJ, who moderates and runs Journey's site, was interested in. That began several months before BT was closed. They established a Journey area with pics and a Friday or Saturday night party with music, etc. CJ was really excited about it, and hoped it would grow.

Basically the way I understand it, it seems like an adult internet-based version of the Sims (sp) games that my nieces play. You create a character, and go into Second Life and hang out.

But, as many have said, and I agree, I'm overloaded with my real life. No time to get involved and spend tons of time in a virtual one.

Hopefully Journey's website and the Second Life Journey area will be separate entities. But CJ was really psyched about it way back when, and I imagine she still is, so that may be why it's featured in the press release. It may also partly explain why the Journey website 'new look' took so long, because they've been working on both, in adddition to running their web design company. Journey's website, as I understand it, (and Jeremey kind of confirmed it in a post a few weeks ago) is not their main gig.

Someone should get them for false advertising.
What kind of organization
puts on a big venue likes this
& promotes it with a singer from 2 Journey's ago?

I don't see what's so hard about PINATA?
Now are they going to hand out
Journey blindfolds & sticks?
