Please offer your support to Barrack Obama

Postby BidForGreen » Sat Feb 09, 2008 2:14 am

For those of you who are still waiting to vote in your state's primaries, you will play a very large role in selecting the democratic nominee. I would ask you to consider Senator Obama. Barrack offers real change. Hillary does not. Barrack will work with hopefully a Democratic congress to enact legislation that will significantly curtail the US's carbon footprint. Hillary, despite all her mantra of "expereinced change" is more of the same. Under Bill's administration, the US continued to accelerate its burning of fossil fuels and impact on the environment - and that was with Al Gore as the VP. The Clinton's virtually ignored Gore and his viewpoints on the environment. Barrack has the strength and the convictions to stand up to big oil and curb the pollution that threatens our planet as a whole. Please vote for Barrack Obama - the future of not only our country, but of our planet depends on it.

Thanks for your time.

Dude, I'm all for helping out with the environment but this post borders on propaganda. Maybe you should be a Styx fan here and take the political stuff somewhere else so people can vote their conscience instead of yours.

Nice Chow, Succinct and to the point.

My daddy taught me that when you're faced with an issue you should always look at who stands to make money because it is there that you will find motivation. I find it interesting that Al Gore is the loudest proponent of alleged global warming and also ownes the largest carbon offset company in the world. Hmmmm

I'm not saying there is or isn't global warming but I am stating that Al Gore's motives may not be as pure as the driven snow.

Don't be a punk. I actually respect the Bid for Green idea. I also believe that all of us can do better to be caretakers of Mother Earth. However I don't like the propaganda on this particular issue. In the last couple of years I've spent a lot of time studying the global warming issue and collecting articles. My conclusion is that the science is far from solid. A great many scientists many of whom are in the top of their fields disagree greatly with Al Gore.

Sorry BidForGreen if I jumped on you a bit. I respect what you're doing immensely. Keep up up the idea of using bio fuel.

Who exactly are these scientists? Did they all go t the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies? Please name the scientitsts that you and Rush and O'Reily and Coulter talk about so much. You guys always just say "top scientists". Any time a "top scientist" is named its someone from some Baptist University (who probably denies evolution).

In all your years "studying" global warming, did you see that the pinko leftists group NASA also has data on Global Warming and its right on with Al Gore's conclusion. Is NASA a left-wing conspiracy?

As someone who works in conservation, I would LOVE to hear the compelling arguements from these "top scientists". Until then, I will go with NASA, Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking, EO Wilson, and the American Journal of Physical Science.

Dammit! I thought I'd get some people riled up because of "not bothering to vote" lol.

True, kind of hard to vote when one isn't a citizen of your country eh? lol

Seriously though, whoever becomes president (It's looking like Mccain? (sp) will be the guy) will have a brutal time of it, with your country posed to have the worst recession since Styx released Paradise Theater (there.. Styx reference! lol), the housing market, war, etc.

But we up here could be having our elections soon too. Our current minority government just announced they want to keep our troops in Afghanistan til 2011, extending its mission by two more years. The opposition parties more then likely will band together and try and create a non confidence motion, which could have us heading to the polls. That could be the kicker for it. The opposition wants us out when the NATO mission ends in 2009, but our current government is afraid our supposed NATO "allies" aren't willing to pick up the slack and help us or the US out in the region. We don't want to see nearly 7 years of work, rebuilding, re-education, infrastructure, etc fall back into the hands of the Taliban because our allies don't want to send troops because "its too risky".

Thanks for reading.

Higgy,

Yes, I do not like to be mis-informed. I took an interest in the global warming issue years ago. Since then I've read an saved article after article on global warming and climate change. I've read stuff from both sides. This interest was sparked because my education is in computer science and I have experience with computer modeling. Computer modeling is a huge part of the pro-global warming argument.

You work in conservation and you're an expert on climate change? No offense but Carl Sagan is an astronomer and astrochemist. Steven Hawking is a physicist. Their areas of study are not climatology, meteorology, or biology.

Why don't we start with this article. It's full of links to other articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and other research. In notes over four hundred sceptical scientists from all over the world. Not once of them is a Rush Limbaugh crony. Please note that nearly all of them are experts in fields directly related to climate change. These are the guys who get their Ph.D's and do actual research on the subject. It's not easy to dismiss what they say. You may also note that this article comes from the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm? ... nateReport

I have so many articles in my database I can literally go on posting links for half the day. However, I'm not going to do it.

I say let's take Al Gore and David Suzuki (Canada's leader in Environmental issues and world renound) bring them up here to Alberta (one of the worlds supposed largest greenhouse gas emitters) strip them naked and have them standing outside on a day like today.

Btw.. It's -30 C here right now, with the Windchill it's -40C.. Global warming MY ARSE!!!! (lol)

Btw.. One of Alberta's unofficial slogans is "Well come to Alberta, where Celsius and Farenheit Meet" Cause -40 is -40 either way you look at it!

Honestly though, Global Warming is a threat to Canada's Arctic and something needs to be done, lets just hope it's not too late by time we get our crap together!

Lest us not forget, the politically correct term is 'Climate Change'. That's because they're not sure if there is global warming, or cooling, or anything at all. Climate Change is a nice term they can use to push an agenda that is Anti-American at it's core. Even the most dyed in the wool liberal will acknowledge that China is now the leader in fucking up the world.

I've already voted, so I would have no impact on future votes at all. But it is greatly irresponsible to vote for any candidate based on one issue exclusively.

I support the use of and development of alternative energy sources regardless of who makes the money. And I don't support it because the oil companies are making more money than anyone could know wht to do with. It makes sense that at some point the oil is going to run out, OPEC isn't doing us any favors nor do they appear to change in the future, and becoming less reliant on foreign energy sources can only prepare us for the long term. Not to mention the NIMBY principle within the US of developing plants that can address oil processing issues has as much of an impact as the others I mentioned.

Vote for Barack if you think he will address our issues based on his collective skills and offerings to lead the country, not just on one particular issue.

For those that question global warming or climate change, think of this. THe next time you go to an old time concert venue and you are sweating like a pig because all of a sudden there are 2000 people in a facility made 75 - 100 years ago with poor ventilation. Compare that to the world population of today with that of 100 years ago and ask yourself how can the world not be getting warmer, even fractionally. Sure ther are other contributors to this, but I have never seen mother nature plug in her air conditioner to cool things down.

Volcanic eruptions have a greater impact on climate than anything man has done or ever will.

FYI-People were sweating their balls off 75 years ago too, they unfortunately didn't have the benefit of central air.

No doubt, but there are a whole lot more people in the world today in what is the same size world as then. That was my point. Put 50 people in that theatre the temperature would be efeected very little, put 2000 and the changes are huge. That was the analogy.

I think we sould all vote for McCain......after all, the War in Iraq is FUN, and should drag on as long as possible.....and the Economy ? why would we ever want to see any major changes in how thats been handled these past 7 glorious years ? President Bush has worked so hard to put us where we are today, it's a shame we cant give him a third term ! John Mc Clain ( oh wait, hes the guy from the Die Hard movies...I always get him and Rambo and the republican frontrunner mixed up.........) I mean McCain is the only guy who wont mess up all of the progress we've made.

I think all those people who worry abot J Macs ( supposedly legendary) temper should just back off........he's not like other Vietnam vets, some of whom came back mentally scarred and emotionally unbalanced. I trust him implicitly to take good care of that briefcase with all those nu-cleuhr codes.

That Obama guy wants to change everything if hes elected... I'm going to have to dump all of my Haliburton stock before it tanks !

And HILLARY ? good Gawd, if she gets in, all those meddling people from the 90's migh get in and eliminate the annual deficit, like they did the last time ! or worse yet, all those lower income people might start to get affordable healthcare. Then I'll have to sell my insurance stocks !

So I hope you all will consider the only patriotic and 'merican way to vote this fall.....and vote
to expand on the groundwork that been laid these last 7 years.

Thank you for your support, and sorry to hijack your thread, Green.....one last thing, can I have that rebate check I'm "borrowing" from my grandkids future taxes now please ?

I saw an interview w/Colin Powell on Meet the press this morning, I wish either party could nominate someone with his intelligence and common sense.

I wonder if all that money we're spending on the war in Iraq would be enough to improve the healthcare system a little bit

or they could use it to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure........or reduce the deficit & debt ( of course, once youve hit 9 trillion, whats another 2 or three trillion going to matter ? )

or scholarships and loans to college so people with good grades but lacking money could break the cycle of poverty and get off the food stamps or other entitlement programs for generations to come.

or........nah, we'd rather redeploy soldiers for their 4th ( and 5th or 6th....? ) duty in the axis of evil. Heck, lets just stay over their for the next 100 years ! I heard a candidate somewhere suggest that, now who was that anyway :?: :?: :?:

anyways I woner if DDY and JY belong to the same political party :P

( No Disease left Behind)

Boot the illegals (ALL of them), I will gladly pay 10 dollars for a head of lettuce knowing that they are not raping all these great free program offered by our bleeding heart liberals(including health care). Have any of you visited any of our spanish only speaking emergency rooms lately??, Kick EVERY damn one of them OUT. They are ILLEGAL!!! Secure our borders, then get the hell out of Iraq, and then worry about all the other shit.

Democrap or Repubican do this FIRST!!!

The Health Care bullshit and alllll this so called change we need will take care of itself until then.

We DONT need change, we need common FUCKIN sense!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it's pretty sad to know that if one of those illegals get sick, they get free health care but if someone like me got sick i'd be paying up the butt (and I HAVE insurance through my job) to get treated

Would that the population felt so inclined to push for real change, regardless of party affiliation. Instead we allow the media to feed us stories that are not newsworthy (see Britney Spears). We gravitate towards reality television and sound bites. We allow the leadership to be "the lesser of the two evils" (so to speak) rather than actually take responsibility for our choices and ourselves. And even when a candidate has ideas we can get behind, we are so mired in "pork" that we watch what we hoped would happen become something so much less.

Much easier to vent at a computer keyboard than to really make a difference.

Yeah Sadie, but all of the Styx arguments here are getting old and tired, and need a rest for a bit, what could be better topic to crank up a good scrum in the middle of winter when it's 5 below zero, then Presidential politics ???
