OT: What the hell time is it in the UK?

Postby Barb » Tue Mar 04, 2008 8:01 am

I am so freaking confused right now. I'm trying to schedule a meeting for the 19th of March for my boss who will be in the UK and his staff who will be in Houston, Tx. As of right now, the UK is 6 hours ahead of Houston, TX. Once we change our clocks (this weekend!), will they only be 5 hours ahead? I'm confused as hell because I distinctly remember all of Europe being 7 hours ahead. It seems like with the time change, we're gaining 2 hours instead of one and it makes no sense.

So, can someone in that part of the world please let me know if you have already converted to daylight savings time and how come there is now a 2 hour difference in the time between there and here! Oh, and to make it more complicated, I'm in California -- a completely different time zone.

Okay, so they haven't turned the clocks ahead yet. That's where I got confused. I thought I read something somewhere that London started DST the first weekend in March. Thanks for your help! So the bottom line is that the time difference on the 19th of March will be exactly what it is today because by then, both will have adjusted for DST.

I did. But I was confused because I thought they had already switched to DST and that was screwing me up.

Thank you. I deal with different time zones all the time, but sometimes my brain just locks up because I get stuck on one factor - that being when does the UK switch to DST. Thanks for providing that answer, lol!
